Conrad Indianapolis Announces Partnership with Indiana School for the Blind and Bosma Enterprises || INDIANAPOLIS, IN – (September 13, 2010) – In partnership with the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ISBVI) and Bosma Enterprises, Conrad Indianapolis is pleased to announce plans to continue its participation in the summer Student Training and Employment Program (STEP).

Summer STEP offers high school students the opportunity to develop valuable skills and learn the fundamentals of finding and keeping a job. Students work four days a week at an area organization and participate in career development activities one day a week.

“The Conrad was a great placement for this year’s student in the STEP program,” said Judy Reynolds, one of the STEP lead teachers. “The provided a variety of entry level job experiences in one employment environment, and our student employee learned that it takes a team effort to run an efficient operation.”

Twenty-nine high school students participated in the five week program this summer at various area organizations. In addition to first-year participant Conrad Indianapolis, student hosts included AIT Laboratories, The City of Indianapolis, Bosma Enterprises and other local businesses.

“The Conrad was a very eager and gracious participant in Summer STEP and we look forward to continuing our strong partnership with the hotel,” said Melanie Wells, employment services manager at Bosma Enterprises.

Future Summer STEP students selected to visit the Conrad will gain first-hand experience throughout several departments in the hotel. They will assist with administrative tasks, internal employee communications, housekeeping, and public space duties as well as with other general hotel operations.

“The partnership between Conrad, Bosma and ISBVI has been a mutually rewarding experience,” said Greg Tinsley, general manager, Conrad Indianapolis. “I can honestly say we learned just as much from our high school student this summer as he did from us. We look forward to continuing this partnership for many years to come.”
