HISTORY AND CULTURE OF BELIZE HIST 3555 I (3 HRS) March 17—March 25, 2017 History of the Caribbean Belize is readily accessible, relatively inexpensive, and a Prerequisite: any 1000/2000 unique experience for students. Due to its small size— level History course roughly half the size of the state of Georgia—various activities from hiking to snorkeling are within easy reach HIST 5555 U/G (3 HRS) during a weeklong spring break visit. As we learn about History of the Caribbean Belize’s role in the history of the world and the Caribbean Prerequisite: HIST 3125 region, we will be able to study the various stages of the country’s past—as a center of Mayan culture, then as a British colony, a hub for waves of Caribbean migration, and now as a developing nation in the global economy.
