MAGNUM 28. März 2018 Stuttgart Im Wizemann the Road to Eternity MAGNUM 28. März 2018 Stuttgart Im Wizemann The Road To Eternity Tour 2018 Im März 2018 präsentiert die über Ländergrenzen hinweg gefeierte Rockband MAGNUM auf ihrer ausgedehnten Europa-Tournee mit „Lost on the Road to Eternity“ ihr inzwischen 20. Studioalbum.

  • The Fantasy of Whiteness: Blackness and Aboriginality in American and Australian Culture
The Fantasy of Whiteness: Blackness and Aboriginality in American and Australian Culture Benjamin Miller A thesis submitted to the School of English, Media and Performing Arts at the University of New South Wales in fulfilment of the requirements for the award of Doctor of Philosophy 2009 THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW SOUTH WALES Thesis/Dissertation Sheet Surname: MILLER First name: BENJAMIN Other name/s: IAN Degree: PhD School: ENGLISH, MEDIA AND PERFORMING ARTS Faculty: ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES Title: MR ABSTRACT This dissertation argues that a fantasy of white authority was articulated and disseminated through the representations of blackness and Aboriginality in nineteenth-century American and Australian theatre, and that this fantasy influenced the representation of Aboriginality in twentieth- century Australian culture. The fantasy of whiteness refers to the habitually enacted and environmentally entrenched assumption that white people can and should superintend the cultural representation of Otherness. This argument is presented in three parts. Part One examines the complex ways in which white anxieties and concerns were expressed through discourses of blackness in nineteenth-century American blackface entertainment. Part Two examines the various transnational discursive connections enabled by American and Australian blackface entertainments in Australia during the nineteenth century. Part Three examines the legacy of nineteenth-century blackface entertainment in twentieth-century Australian culture. Overall, this dissertation investigates some of the fragmentary histories and stories about Otherness that coalesce within Australian culture. This examination suggests that representations of Aboriginality in Australian culture are influenced and manipulated by whiteness in ways that seek to entrench and protect white cultural authority. Even today, a phantasmal whiteness is often present within cultural representations of Aboriginality.

  • Chapter: Music Recommender Systems
Chapter 13 Music Recommender Systems Markus Schedl, Peter Knees, Brian McFee, Dmitry Bogdanov, and Marius Kaminskas 13.1 Introduction Boosted by the emergence of online music shops and music streaming services, digital music distribution has led to an ubiquitous availability of music. Music listeners, suddenly faced with an unprecedented scale of readily available content, can easily become overwhelmed. Music recommender systems, the topic of this chapter, provide guidance to users navigating large collections. Music items that can be recommended include artists, albums, songs, genres, and radio stations. In this chapter, we illustrate the unique characteristics of the music recommen- dation problem, as compared to other content domains, such as books or movies. To understand the differences, let us first consider the amount of time required for ausertoconsumeasinglemediaitem.Thereisobviouslyalargediscrepancyin consumption time between books (days or weeks), movies (one to a few hours), and asong(typicallyafewminutes).Consequently, thetimeittakesforausertoform opinions for music can be much shorter than in other domains, which contributes to the ephemeral, even disposable, nature of music. • THE TRUE STORY of FATIMA Introduction
THE TRUE STORY OF FATIMA Father John de Marchi, I.M.C, Introduction Through no gift of the author's, but by the divine power, this is one of the very great stories of modern times. The remarkable events occurring near Fatima, Portugal, in the months from May to October, 1917, gain significance and new meaning with every passing day; the friends and followers of Our Lady of Fatima, for whom this volume speaks, increase each year by numberless legion in prayerful certitude that what we are revealing here is true. The author is a witness to this truth, having lived at Fatima for many years, and this plain book's pretension to importance is that it is able to present for the first time to Americans the full and documented background against which God has written His own prescription for peace. Much of this account is lovely and can be counted on to fulfil almost anyone's story- book expectations, as it tells of the shepherd children, Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco. But it is also a divinely serious narrative recalling, to the likely discomfort of many, the reality of heaven and hell, and bringing to necessary attention other primary matters too often and too long placed out of mind. It is hoped that this book, in its completeness, will provide a kind of text on Fatima, and the author feels obliged, in the face of such ambition, to list the documents on which it has been based. I have used the Portuguese newspapers of the period, especially the Seculo, the Diario de Noticias, and the Mundo, all at the time important pro-government journals, anticlerical in both policy and tone.
