MEET THE 2012-13 FALCONS BGSU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL EIGHT-TIME DEFENDING MAC CHAMPIONS 47 MEET THE FALCONS – BAILEY CAIRNDUFF BAILEY CAIRNDUFF GUARD/FORWARD • 5-10 • FR./FR. MORLEY, MICH. (MORLEY STANWOOD) 34 HIGH SCHOOL Earned four letters at Morley Stanwood High School (‘12) for coach Bob Raven ... finished as the school’s all-time leading scorer, with 1,663 career points ... helped the Mohawks Cairnduff to state championships in both volleyball and basketball in her senior year ... a Class C First-Team All-State selection as a senior ... named one of the 10 ‘Best of the Best’ players in the state, regardless of division, by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan in both her junior and senior seasons ... averaged double digits in scoring in all four years as the Mohawks went undefeated in the Central State Athletic Association in every year ... team posted an overall four-year mark of 101-4 ... averaged 17 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals per game as a senior, helping MSHS to a 28-0 mark and that state title ... earned all-conference first-team honors as well as all-state accolades in each of her four years ... had 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.2 steals per outing as a junior ... scored 14 ppg as a sophomore and 12.5 ppg as a freshman, averaging six rebounds per game in both years ... named the Big Rapids Pioneer Dream Team Player of the Year in each of her last three seasons, and was named to the Dream Team in all four years ... earned a total of 10 letters, including four in volleyball and two in track ... was a first-team all-state selection in volleyball ... NORTHSIDE, TEXAS (JOHN JAY) (NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIV.) 15 DONOVAN AND THE FALCONS Transferred to BGSU from North Carolina State in July of 2012 ... will sit out the 2012-13 Donovan season per NCAA transfer regulations, and will retain three seasons of eligibility. 2011-12 AT NORTH CAROLINA STATE Played in all 35 games off the bench, averaging 4.9 points and 2.5 rebounds per game for the Wolfpack ... played 14.8 minutes per contest ... shot 37 percent from the floor and made 16 of her 50 three-point field-goal attempts ... her five double-digit scoring games included a season-high 15 points in a victory over Alcorn State and a 14-point effort, along with a season-high seven rebounds, in a win against Longwood ... led the team in scoring three times on the season, including the Alcorn State & Longwood games as well as in her collegiate debut ... in the latter game, scored 11 points in a win against Southeast Missouri State ... also hit double digits in home wins over Jacksonville (13 points) and Alabama (10) ... the Wolfpack went 19-16 overall last season, and advanced to the second round of the WNIT ... NC State finished with a 5-11 record in the Atlantic Coast Conference, but posted wins over Florida State and top-seeded Duke in the league tournament, before falling to Georgia Tech in the semifinal round ... scored six points in that Duke game. HIGH SCHOOL A graduate of John Jay H.S. (‘11) in Northside, Texas ... attended Notre Dame Academy in Toledo, Ohio, as a freshman ... was a 2011 Texas McDonald’s All-American as well as a McDonald’s All-America Nominee ... ESPNU HoopGurlz ranked her the number-26 wing player in the class of 2011, and the Premier Basketball Report listed her as the 24th-best overall player in the state of Texas ... averaged 20.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 4.2 steals per game in her senior year, helping the Mustangs of head coach Mike Floyd to a 31-6 overall record ... as a junior, had 19.5 ppg, 11.5 rpg and 2.5 spg as John Jay advanced to the state semifinals, and earned all-state honors ... was the District 28-5A co-MVP as a Photo courtesy NC State Athletic sophomore, after averaging 18 points and 13 boards per game. BGSU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL EIGHT-TIME DEFENDING MAC CHAMPIONS 49 MEET THE FALCONS – SIMONE ELI SIMONE ELI GUARD • 5-9 • SR./SR. • LETTERS EARNED - √√√ GENOA, OHIO (GENOA) 22 2011-12 Played in five games off the bench ... averaged 2.4 points per game, and was 4-of-6 from three- point range ... scored three points, hitting her only shot, in each of the Falcons’ two meetings vs. Eli Kent State (Jan. 4 and Feb. 28) ... the latter game saw BGSU clinch the MAC’s regular-season championship ... had a career-high six points, going 2-of-3 from long range, and added an assist in five minutes of action vs. Madonna (Dec. 21) ... played four minutes against bothAustin Peay (Dec. 9) and Jacksonville (Dec. 11), picking up a steal in the latter game ... suffered an injury in the preseason and was sidelined for several weeks ... returned to practice on Nov. 16 ... was in uniform for the Butler game (Dec. 3), but did not see action. 2010-11 Saw action in 13 games off the bench ... hit a three-pointer and added an assist in the home win over Buffalo ... her triple in that game turned out to be the final points ever scored by a BGSU women’s basketball player at Anderson Arena ... scored her first points of the season with a pair of free throws vs. Kent State ... they marked the first FTM of her career ... played two minutes in the home win over Ohio ... did not dress for the Eastern Michigan game after suffering an injury in practice several days prior ... had an assist and an offensive rebound in the win over Canisius ... had a rebound in three minutes of work against Cal State Fullerton ... grabbed a rebound in the win over Detroit ... had an assist in the win over Youngstown State. 22 2009-10 Played in 13 games off the bench, averaging 0.5 points and 0.3 rebounds per game ... played in two of the Falcons’ three MAC Tournament wins in Cleveland ... saw two minutes of action vs. Akron in the semifinals ... in her two minutes of work vs. Miami in the quarterfinal round, had three points and a rebound ... hit a three-point field goal in that game ... saw action in six MAC games ... played one minute at Kent State, pulling down one rebound ... played two minutes vs. both Ohio and Buffalo ... saw a season-high five minutes of action vs. SIU Edwardsville ... had a rebound, and picked up the first assist of her Falcon career ... played four minutes againstAp - palachian State, scoring her first three points as a collegian ... hit a left-corner three-pointer on ELI – 2011-12 / CAREER HIGHS Points 6 vs. Madonna 12/21/11 3, 3x (vs. Buffalo 3/2/11) Reb. HIGH SCHOOL Earned four letters at Genoa High School (‘09) for coach Tom Kontak ... an All-Ohio Second-Team selection for the Comets as a senior ... was named the Northwest District’s co-Player of the Year in Division III ... also was the Suburban Lakes League P-O-Y ... a two-time all-league first teamer after earning second-team honors as a sophomore and honorable mention as a freshman ... also a two-time all-district first-team choice, after being named to the second team as a soph and earning honorable mention as a frosh ... helped the team to two SLL titles and two second-place finishes during her four years ... Comets were district runners-up in both 2008 and 2009 ... averaged 20.6 points, 4.6 assists and 2.8 steals as a senior ... scored over 1,000 career points for the Comets ... finished her career with a program-record 176 three-pointers ... averaged 18 points per game as a junior, 13 as a sophomore and nine as a freshman ..
