St. Ann's Sguare Te1. BLA Manchester z 3211-z INSTRUCTIONS TO COMPETITORS I Every ccmpetitor must wear shorts and a vest. Dark shorts must be worn in the Steeplechase. A competitor will be excluded from taking part in any event unless correctly attired. 2 Numbers-Team Captains must collect their official numbers from the Secre- tary's Tent on the Ground. The numbers must be pinned to the front of the vest. Safety pins are provided. 3 All questionsconcerning the start shall be in the absolute discretion cf the Starter, whose decision shall be fina!. 4 ln all track events and heats stations have been drawn and will countfrom the left in the order given in the programme. 5 Every competitor who qualifies in a heat MUST compete in the Second Round or Final and cannot withdraw without the consent of the Referee. 6 ln the field events finalists wil{ be credited with their best perforn:ances. 7 Any competitor may use his own javelin or weight, provided rhat it is sub- mitted to the Field Referee one hour before the event. I No warming up yvill be allowed on the track. 9 Competitors, in all heats, will be marshalled on the cinder track outside the Competitors' Entrance ro the Arena and must assemble there l0 minutes before their event is due ro srart. Heat numbers will be pegged ir,to rhe ground and competitors are asked to line up behind them. Competitors will not be allowed to leave the Marshalling Area until directed by the Chief Marshall. Competitors must leave the arena immediately after their event. No warming is allowed on the track ; there is a cinder track behind Stand 5 which may be used on presentarion of a Competitor's Official Pass. I 0 The Competitors are requested to strictly observe the above instructions and to co-operate with the Stewards.

A\^/ARDS Small Plaques will be presented to the winners of individual evenrs. Com- petitors placed 2nd and -lrd wil! receive Token Medals. Certiflcates will subsequently be sent to all compet!tors who gain Standards. Challenge Cups, to be held for one year. will be presented to the winning School in each ofthefollowing events: One Mile,440 Yards and the Steeplechase. THE CHALLENGE CUP Holders: Birkenhead School The first six competitors in each event will score, for their Schools,5, 5,4, 3,2 and I points repectively. A Standard performance wili score I point. The School scoring rhe greates! number of points will hold the Trophy for one year. THE CHALLENGE SHIELD Holders : Liverpool Collegiate This Trophy is a,vardel annua{{y to the winning School in the Relay Race.
