SHARE ON FACEBOOK » CAITLYN GRIBBIN: Tropical Cyclone Christine hit the Pilbara coast between Roebourne and Whim Creek. It brought wind gusts up to SHARE ON TWITTER » 200km an hour and heavy rain to several communities. The worst hit towns were Karratha, Port Hedland and Roebourne.

The cyclone also tore through Sandie Franklin's property, Mallina Station, 100 kilometres from Port Hedland. Subscribe to our Daily or Story podcast. SANDIE FRANKLIN: Rain was horizontal so it got into everywhere and flooded the house. One big tree that came down in in 99, that fared all those years, it just split in half. CAITLYN GRIBBIN: This morning, the clean-up will continue. Crews are repairing damage to homes and vital infrastructure and fixing overhead powerlines.

On Pilbara cattle stations, there's also plenty of work to be done, but Sandie Franklin says she doesn't mind because the cyclone has brought 130 millimetres of much needed rain.

SANDIE FRANKLIN: This time last week were flat out pumping water at several water points around the station so that we could just have Christmas Day off because we were really struggling for water. So yeah, huge relief, huge relief.

CAITLYN GRIBBIN: So a week ago you were worried about water supply.

SANDIE FRANKLIN: Absolutely. But when you can see the grass greening up before your eyes, and you can, it definitely is worth it. They desperately needed it. All farmers, we're never happy. We either get too much or not enough, but at this time of year this is a really good start for the year, very great to have it.
