Where ghosts stay for free...

“Is it really haunted?” is probably the most common question asked when the Queen Mary is the topic.

The Queen Mary is recognized as one of the most haunted locations in the world. Over the years, there have been repeated incidents of passengers and hotel guests reporting odd occurrences. Some have seen figures dressed in period clothing walking through the halls or sitting at a cocktail table in the Observation Bar. Others heard the laughter of a little girl coming from the empty swimming pool. Hotel guests and Queen Mary staff have reported flickering lights and whispers from inside empty hotel rooms and claimed sheets were pulled from the bed by unseen forces.

Paranormal researchers and psychics from across the world have come to the Queen Mary in search of answers. They all agree that the Queen Mary is haunted, some say with as many as 200 spirits.

Ghost sighting plaques are posted throughout the ship indicating where reported incidents of paranormal activity have occurred. Though most reports involve brief sightings, some people have claimed to see lingering apparitions or multiple spirits.

So, is the Queen Mary indeed haunted? You tell us... Hauntings

Testimonials...

“My husband and I spent our thirtieth wedding anniversary aboard the Queen Mary. We stayed on B deck. Exactly at midnight, our TV turned off. After we had been asleep for awhile the water in the bathroom came on. I thought my husband was in there and he thought I was. After we had checked out the empty room, we came back into the bedroom. It smelled as if someone was smoking a cigar. The last event was when we heard a cart being pushed down the corridor, but there was no one in the corridor but us.” Lorena, Long Beach, California

“My sister and I had wandered up to the bridge area and were looking around. We were the only ones in the area, or so we thought. I had stopped in the map room to try to take a photo with my digital camera, but the picture would not come out right. I noticed a man had entered the room behind me wearing what looked like a captain’s hat, so I kind of laid low on taking the picture. He just stood behind me and then walked back onto the bridge. I gave it one last try with no better results (photo was a blur). When I followed in the man’s footsteps back out to the bridge, the only one out there was my sister. She had not seen anyone enter or exit.” Marilyn, Illinois

“My husband and I were sleeping in one of the first class suites aboard the Queen Mary. We had heard of hauntings but were doubtful, as neither of us had ever experienced one. On the second night of our stay, my husband and I had turned in a bit late and went straight to sleep. When I laid down, I found sleep to be elusive. As I finally began to fall asleep, I was startled by my husband’s chilly hands as he put his arm around me and placed his hand on my shoulder that was farthest from him. As I turned to complain that his hands were too chilly I noticed that he was facing in the opposite direction and his hands were nowhere near me. I jumped up and turned the lights on, out of bitter fright, fully planning to sleep with them on for the remainder of the night. However, much to our horror, we woke up in the morning to find the lights had been turned off, and not by us.” Emily, San Diego Tours & Attractions
