Namaste… It is very happy to state that our Hon'ble Home Minister Chinna Rajappa Garu visited our corporation on 4.05.2016 and laid foundation stone for Rain water Harvesting Structure in the presence of our Hon'ble MLA V.Prabhakar Choudary Garu , beloved Mayor M.Swaroopa Garu and other local dignitaries.

We have attended the workshop held at on 24th May 2016 for submitting priorities to State Annual Action Plan (SAAP) for FY 2016- 17. Keeping in view the lack of UGD system in the , we have proposed sewerage component as the first priority followed by storm water drainage, parks, transportation and water supply.

We are experiencing e x t re me ly Hot Weather in the month of May 2016. Keeping in view of the Pedestrians, Travellers and who are on the roads during on the hot times, we have established temporary Chalivendras at certain important localities of the town with the help of local NGO’s and Community Involvement. Nearly 45 centers were opened to supply Water a n d Butter milk to the thirsty people during summer and all precautionary steps were taken to protect the common man from the heat waves.

Our beloved Mayor Smt.M. Swaroopa and V. Prabhakar Chowdary garu, Hon’ble MLA, have Opened the Urban Night Shelter at Kamala Nagar to Provide accommodation as well as food during the nights to the Urban Poor destitute, homeless peoples and beggars.

It also gave immense pleasure that the Eenadu Organization has Conducted “Avagahana Sadassu” Public Meeting in the Municipal Corporation premises under the Presidency of Sri V. Prabhakar Chowdary garu, Hon’ble MLA, Anantapuramu Constituency. All Stakeholders, Students, Public Representatives and Officials from all the Departments both and local level have participated in the meeting and came forward to conserve the water by forming RWHS wherever possible in the entire Town. It is also made mandatory to construct a RWHS whenever a new building is constructed.

The P.D Housing and Housing staff have Visited Anantapuramu for preparedness of the Affordable Housing Scheme and reviewed the existing old housing Scheme. The Hon’ble MLA has Suggested them to Provide basic amenities like drinking water supply, Power supply, Road and Drainage facilities in the first phase of the said locality.

For effective processing and disposal of solid waste in the ULB, we have initiated 'Waste to Energy' project. The project has been taken up by Essel Infra group enterprise for a total of 6 ULBs in Anantapuram district including Anantapur MC under Swachh Bharat Mission.

It is also very happy to inform that our Corporation has received best appreciation award on implementation of "Deepam Scheme" for urban beneficiaries for the year of 2015-16.

Current Activities

Inauguration of RWH Structure

As per the government orders to all the ULB's of , Anantapur Municipal Corporation has taken up the construction of Rain water harvesting structures with a missionary zeal. The target has been fixed to build atleast 100 RWH structures within 3 months in various institutional buildings of the city. The event was started with construction of RWH structure within municipal corporation office. Home Minister Chinna Rajappa Garu graced the occasion as chief guest and inaugurated the program in the presence of Prabhakar Chowdary Garu Hon'ble MLA, Mayor Smt. Swaroopa Garu, Commissioner C. Obulesu Garu along with other local dignitaries.

IIT Foundation Programme

To make the students understand and master basic concepts in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, IIT foundation programme has been started in all the municipal schools of AMC. The programme aimed at students of 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th classes. Specials classes have been conducted regularly for 4 hours in the month of May from 9 AM to 1 PM. Teachers who were allotted were trained according to the course structure.

Opening of Chalivendrams

Offering respite to the parched throats during summer, Chalivendrams were opened at 45 locations in the city This facility has provided much needed relief to the commuters and passers by providing buttermilk and water. Many of these kiosks are launched by corporators and inaugurated by Hon'ble Mayor and Commissioner

Voluntary Blood Organization

Blood organization named Surakshita Sevasamithi has been started by contract employees of the corporation where 42 members have volunteered blood donation this month. As an acknowledgement to their effort Hon'ble Mayor Smt. Swaroopa has presented Appreciation award to the organization.

Silt Removal

As a first port of call for monsoon preparation, desilting of storm water drains has been started in the ULB with an estimation of 26 lakhs.

Handing over Land to State Government

Missamma site located in 20th division falling under municipal limits was handed over to government of Andhra Pradesh, so as to utilize it for any developmental activities

Best Appreciation Award

The corporation has received best appreciation award from joint collector on implementation of DEEPAM scheme (gas connection) for urban beneficiaries for the year of 2015-16.

Distribution of Wheel Barrows

Wheel Barrows were distributed to all the sanitation workers for carrying out household collection of solid waste. A total of 125 wheel barrows were distributed city wide.

Pension Distribution

Pensions were distributed to the newly sanctioned beneficiaries in the ULB. Pensions were released to the total of 20,596 beneficiaries in the month of May , out of which 18,981 were disbursed.

AMRUT - Workshop on preparation of SAAP

Workshop was held in Vijayawada for revisiting SLIPs and preparation of SAAP for the annual year 2016-17. The workshop was chaired by Dr. P.Narayana Garu- Hon’ble Minister for MA&UD, Sri K. KannaBabu (IAS)-Director of Municipal Administration and other officials, addressing AMRUT in prioritization of projects under AMRUT scheme. Underground sewerage system as the first priority, followed by four other sectors namely storm water drainage, parks, transportation and water supply with their estimated costs were submitted to the PDMC's under AMRUT.
