Dogs In Shops - Napoleon is said to have described the British as a ‘nation of shopkeepers’. Britain is known as a pet loving nation as well. How appropriate that Romi Stern (11) noticed how many dogs went to work in Nailsworth shops and created a list for the NN to expand upon. We honour those hard working dogs on pages 6 and 7 who look after their mums and dads at work and moreover take great care of each and every customer who walks in the door ... unless they are resting! Apologies in advance for the possible quality of translation - barks, wags, growls, licks and snuggles all mean something different in each location! But, it is also great to see all the owners are completely soft and besotted with their dogs! Photographed is Mabel at C2 and she is a 7 year old British Bull dog rescue and a lovely girl she is too! At one time a regular in the salon, she tends to review each day more from home now, but you may be lucky - by popular demand she is still in attendance! Grahame describes her day as very much a ‘cheery hello to one and all’ on arrival in the morning and then after an hour of pleasantries and exhaustive checks of the staff and early customers, she goes back to her bed and wonders from afar! “Aloof and selective,” is how to describe Mabel says Grahame. See more dogs (including Romi’s dog Bramble) on pages 6 and 7! few months ago we mentioned wo dusty boxes were unearthed A that we would help promote the Trecently in the Archive Office by work of the Great War Centenary our Features Editor and found to contain Remembrance Group. I've read enough of these Regency romances now to realize that except for the clothing and setting things haven't really changed that much. There are still the rich and the poor, the exclusive societies, mean girls and bullies. And there are still happy endings. Ms. Beaton puts it al | About the Author | M. C. Beaton (aka Marion Chesney / aka Jennie Tremaine) has won international acclaim for her bestselling 'Hamish Macbeth' mysteries and the 'Agatha Raisin' mystery series. She is also the author of more than one hundred romance tit The Beast; that was what they called her. With her plump body and rough tomboy ways, she felt more like a clown. It was hopeless. Poor penniless Tilly could only sit among the chaperons as a paid companion to the spiteful Lady Aileen.

  • The Deadly Dance 30 [15] Beaton, M
(15/30) The Deadly Dance 30 [15] Beaton, M. C. Minotaur Books (2010) Bossy, impulsive, and unlucky in love, the all-too-human Agatha Raisin has proved to be a surprisingly effective---and endearing---amateur sleuth. But can Agatha make it as a private investigator? After getting mugged on vacation, in what she will always think of as the Paris Incident, she decides to find out. Agatha soon learns that running her own detective agency in the Cotswolds is not quite like starring in a Raymond Chandler movie. Instead of dames in distress with big shoulder pads, her clients are ladies with missing cats and a man whose son has run off with his car. Agatha even worries that she might be outclassed by her sixty-seven-year- old secretary, Emma Comfrey. But then wealthy divorcée Catherine Laggat-Brown walks in with their first "real" case. Mrs. Laggat- Brown's daughter has received a death threat, and when Agatha thwarts an attack on the girl at a dinner dance, she recognizes an opportunity to show what Raisin Investigations can do. Even better, the case gives her a chance to reunite with her long-absent friend, Sir Charles Fraith. As they scour the Cotswolds in search of leads, Charles' insights prove invaluable and his charms irresistible, leading poor Emma to fall madly in love with him. As ever, Agatha bumbles her way through the case, trying her friends' patience and flirting shamelessly with the chief suspect. Will she put her tiny agency on the map, or has even the outrageous Agatha finally bitten off more than she can chew? GET A CLUE! Be the first to hear the latest mystery book news.… With the St.

As it comprises an immense diversity of writing done in such mainstream sub-genres as detective, police, and serial killer fiction, as well as actual noir, I will investigate both the contrasts and the crossovers between said sub-genres.

April 2014 Nailsworth No. 140 News A free monthly community paper for the parish of Nailsworth, “Happy Chocoholic available in colour on our website Day” www.nailsworthnews.org.uk Or do you mean “Happy Easter”? What a pity that yet another Christian Festival has been taken Beaudesert Park School over by commercialism. ‘Edible Art’. The roots of the name Easter come from the old English / pagan See page 10 Eostre for a spring festival celebrating new birth and new life after the cold and death of the past winter. It just so happened to coincide with the Passover of the Jewish faith and when Christianity hit these shores, the name stuck. At least the Anglo-Saxons wouldn’t be deprived of one of their more important festivals! Easter bunnies and chicks along with Easter eggs are all symbolic of the season of new birth - hence the time that Christians celebrate the ‘new birth’ of Jesus at the Resurrection. When one buys Easter Eggs this year, just spare a thought for what Easter really means and celebrates - it is not complicated and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg like the chocolate does! ‘Nailsworth in the Top 101... according to a recent Sunday Times article (16 March 2014). We often wonder who contributes to such polls, but Nailsworth is rated so highly because of the ‘posh grub’, William’s, £1m houses in the centre of town, no parking fees ... There is so much more to Nailsworth than just this list and how shortsighted the ST editor must be to list this nonsense, without paying a personal visit and see why we know Nailsworth should be in the TOP TEN places to live! This town is rather special for so many more (serious) reasons than posh food etc.
