Visual Arts Kits Ages 10-Adult THE MASTER ARTIST TOOL KIT SERIES: PRINTMAKING

There are many practical & creative benefits to learning printmaking, such as using carving skills, creating artwork that can be duplicated endlessly, learning skills of composition design, transferring images, mixing ink, relief sculpting, and printing without a computer! Printmaking is the original low-tech Photoshop. Printmaking allows for crisp color transfer for a delightfully professional final project - be it art prints, cards, zines, etc. Printmaking is the merging of design, drawing, sculpture and painting. This kit features woodblock (woodcut) print techniques.

Includes: carving blocks, wood, materials to assemble bench hook, carving tools, brayer, ink, paper, instructional videos and written instructions.

Reserve by February 19 Available March 8 $165 THE MASTER ARTIST TOOL KIT SERIES: ENCAUSTIC PAINTING & COLLAGE

Encaustic painting is an ancient art form of painting with wax. The benefits include the ability to collage in an archival form that will allow your creation to last. Encaustic allows you to paint with the wax, build up layers, and even create a relief sculptural effect. Colors can be layered and carved to create intricate designs or to reveal hidden colors. Encaustic paint is combined with wax and heated to melt the materials together, creating a thin, flowing material that is applied with a brush and dried quickly to allow for layering. The colors are very unique from other mediums and allow for the creation of vibrant colors with a certain glow. Your finished piece will look like a finely polished piece of woodwork. The ability to collage, adding fabric, paper, gold leaf, etc., as well as paint and sculpt makes encaustic an astoundingly multifaceted art-form that every great artist should add to their repertoire.

Includes: encaustic wax, encaustic paint, heat gun, hot plate, heat-safe containers, assorted brushes, collage paper, canvases, instructional videos and written instructions.

18 | WCA COURSE & EVENT CATALOG THE WAYNE CENTER BALLET COMPANY

THE WAYNE CENTER BALLET COMPANY consists of two levels: Senior and Junior. Students are evaluated individually and placed into the level where they will benefit the most. Classes consist of ballet, pointe, contemporary, strength & conditioning, variations, and masterclasses. Performing opportunities give students the chance to develop their artistic and technical skills. Wayne Center for the Arts presents three sessions of performance a year: a Nutcracker or Winter Ballet, the New Works Project, and our Spring Show, with additional local and regional performance opportunities available to excelling students. Students wishing to participate in the WAYNE CENTER BALLET COMPANY must take all ballet technique classes, either pointe or pre- pointe within their level, and an additional contemporary class. This is necessary for the effective cross-training of dancers. The tuition listed reflects the total cost for all classes in each level. Students may also take unlimited classes below their level at no additional charge. Placement is required for registration into these levels. To be placed in a pre-professional class, please contact Brian Murphy, WCB Artistic Director, at 330-264-2787 x217 or email [email protected].

NEW FOR 2020/21: All WCB Classes will be offered both in person and on Zoom. When registering for spring classes, students should indicate whether they plan to attend in person or online so that faculty can plan for appropriate class sizes. If a dancer feels that he or she is unable to participate in studio classes, an online option will always be available. WCA ABIDES BY CDC STANDARDS regarding the effects of the novel coronavirus. Guidelines have been implemented to ensure the safety of all dancers, staff and the entire organization. • Dancers will be required to wear masks at all times while in the WCA building. • Dancers should dress for class before arrival. Dressing rooms will not be available. • Dancers need to follow social distancing guidelines before, during, and after class. • Dancers should bring their own water and food. Classes and guidelines are subject to change. Please contact Brian Murphy if you have any questions or concerns. NOTE ON ATTENDANCE: If your dancer cannot attend a class or rehearsal, please submit this information to Brian as soon as possible. Dancers MUST participate in Saturday rehearsals. This is necessary for dancers to maintain consistency, respect the rehearsal time of their fellow dancers, and maintain strength for injury prevention.
