A 147 Council SPECIAL MEETING OF BELFAST CITY COUNCIL Held in the City Hall on Thursday, 21st June, 2012 at the hour of 6.00 o’clock p.m., pursuant to Notice. Members present: The Right Honourable the Lord Mayor (Alderman Robinson) (Chairman); the Deputy Lord Mayor (Councillor Cunningham); the High Sheriff (Alderman M. Campbell); Aldermen Browne, Ekin, Humphrey, McCoubrey, R. Newton, R. Patterson, Rodgers, Smyth, Stalford and Stoker; and Councillors Attwood, Austin, M. E. Campbell, Convery, Corr, Curran, Garrett, Groves, Haire, Hanna, Hargey, Hartley, Hendron, Hussey, Jones, Kingston, Kyle, Lavery, Mac Giolla Mhín, Mallon, Maskey, McCabe, McCarthy, McKee, McNamee, McVeigh, Mullan, A. Newton, Ó Donnghaile, Ó Muilleoir, O’Neill, L. Patterson, Reynolds, Spence, Thompson and Webb. Summons The Chief Executive submitted the summons convening the meeting. Apologies Apologies for inability to attend were reported from Councillors Keenan and Kelly. Expression of Sympathy The Lord Mayor (Alderman Robinson) referred to the recent death of the former Member of the Council, Mr. Alan Crowe, who had served as High Sheriff of Belfast in 2001. On behalf of the Council, he extended his condolences and deepest sympathy to the family circle. Expressions of Best Wishes The Lord Mayor reminded the Council that the wife of Alderman Browne had been admitted recently to hospital and it was agreed that a letter be sent to her conveying the Council’s best wishes for a speedy recovery. The Council was advised also that Alderman Smyth would be undergoing a surgical procedure in the coming week and the Members extended their best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.
