The Beulah Optis cruised up to North Lake with 10 Optis that filled 3 trailers for Pram Power 2018! The regatta was sold out with 75 boats attending. After many of the kids had sailed in the light winds at Opti Inland, the sailors were pleased with more wind to get in a series of races during the one day regatta. Five Beulah boats placed in the top 5 in Junior and Senior fleets, with Lena Mikacich taking home the 1st place Cup in the Senior Fleet with very consistent races (1st, 2nd, 2nd). Even if the sailors didn’t bring home a raffle prize or award, the craft area packed their bags with tie dye and painting creations from the day.

A great turn out for Beulah at Pram Power. Look at those smiles! CONGRATULATIONS Lena Mikacich (right) Winner of the Senior Fleet!

CONGRATULATIONS Hailey Greeson - Winner ILYA No Tears Junior Fleet

How many members and friends does it take to run the Float Boat Tour?

The answer is 115, and I want to personally thank each member that helped to make the 2018 Tour a success. We were blest with fantastic weather and a much more manageable number of guests, which created a less hectic day.

A big thank-you to the five homeowners who graciously opened up their homes for the event. Three of the homes belong to yacht club members: Rob & Joelle Hudson de Tarnowsky, Anne Humphrey, and Charles & Jennifer Kaska. Thanks to our drivers and pier helpers And a special thank-you to non-member homeowners Joanne Beck and Lance & Kim Rosenmayer.

Seawall Replacement The rip-rap portion of the seawall repair was started on August 6 by Complete Piers. A trench was excavated along the bottom of the lake to accommodate the installation of the base course boulders that act as a foundation for the wall. A slip sheet of landscape fabric was placed against the existing concrete wall to help the rip rap rock to move separately from the seawall. The DNR approved slope of the rip rap is a 2:1 gradient. Every one foot vertical section is accommodated by a two foot horizontal section. The rip-rap will extend approximately six (6’) feet out into the Lake. A gap in the rip rap will occur at the crane to allow boat launching and take-out using the current “ladder”.

The speedy Beulah girls (above), Liza Mikacich, Jane Kiernan, Marie LeRoy, waited at the finish to welcome the remaining swimmers.

The fantastic group of swimmers congregate on the pier after the swim (top left) and then proceed to a fabulous breakfast on the deck at the Kiernan/Bellew home (bottom left).

What a great day for all ... even the support crew, who outnumbered the swimmers, were treated to the fun and feast!
