ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE SECRETARY:

Worthy Secretary, Senate of Pakistan made an announcement wherein he informed the members that as this was a special sitting therefore a Presiding Officer was required to be nominated by the President of Pakistan. Moreover, he informed the House that in pursuance of sub-rule (5) of rule 12 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012, the Honorable President of Pakistan has nominated Senator Muhammad Ali Khan Saif to preside over today’s sitting.

MOTION:

Senator Raja Muhammad Zafar-Ul-Haq, Leader Of The Opposition, on his behalf and on behalf of Senators Atta Ur Rehman, Molvi Faiz Muhammad, Abida Muhammad Azeem, Agha Shahzaib Durrani, Rana Mahmood Ul Hassan, Pervaiz Rasheed, Musadik Masood Malik, Sitara Ayaz, Muhammad Javed Abbasi, Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar, Mir Kabeer Ahmed , Molana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Muhammad Tahir Bizinjo, Mushahid Ullah Khan, Saleem Zia, Muhammad Asad Ali Khan Junejo, Ghous Muhammad Khan Niazi, Rana Maqbool Ahmad, Dr. Asif Kirmani, Dr. Asad Ashraf, Sardar Muhammad Shafiq Tareen, Sherry Rehman, Mian Raza Rabbani, Farooq Hamid Naek, Abdul Rehman Malik, Dr. Sikandar Mandhro, Islamuddin Shaikh, Rubina Khalid, Gianchand, Khanzada Khan, Sassui Palijo, Moula Bux , Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Syed Muhammad Ali Shah Jamot, Imamuddin Shouqeen, Engr. “That leave be granted to move a resolution for the removal of Senator Muhammad Sadiq from the office of the Chairman Senate.”

Sixty-four members rose on their seats in favour of the motion and consequently the leave to move the resolution was granted.

2 RESOLUTION;

“Whereas, Senator Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has ceased to command the confidence of the majority of the members of the Senate as the Chairman, the House resolves and declares that Senator Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has ceased to hold the Office of the Chairman, Senate of Pakistan.”

VOTING ON THE RESOLUTION;

The Presiding Officer informed the members regarding the voting procedure and thereafter the voting on the resolution by a secret ballot started. Total number of votes casted were 100, 94 votes were valid and 6 votes were rejected. 50 votes were cast in favour of the resolution whereas 44 votes were cast against the resolution.

So the resolution was not adopted by the votes of a majority of the total membership of the Senate. Consequently the resolution was rejected. MOTION;

Haq Kakar, Liaqat Khan Tarakai, Brig. (R) John Kenneth Williams, Muhammad Ali Khan Saif, Muhammad Farogh Naseem, Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh, Fida Muhammad, Prof. Dr. Mehr Taj Roghani, Sarfaraz Ahmed , Seemee Ezdi, Sana Aand Muhammad Ayub, moved,-

“That leave be granted to move a resolution for the removal of Senator Saleem Mandviwala from the office of the Deputy Chairman Senate.”

32 members rose on their seats in favour of the motion and consequently the leave to move the resolution was granted.

RESOLUTION:

Senators Syed Shibli Faraz, Leader of the House, on his behalf and on behalf of Senators Ahmed Khan, Mirza Muhammad Afridi, Aurangzeb Khan, Sajjad Hussain Turi, Kauda Babar, Naseebullah Bazai, Haji Momin Khan Afridi, Hidayat Ullah, Hillal Ur Rehman, Dr. Shahzad Waseem, Nauman Wazir Khattak, Samina Saeed, Muhammad Azam Khan Swati, Faisal Javed, Manzoor Ahmed, Mohsin Aziz, Anwar Ul Haq Kakar, Liaqat Khan Tarakai, Brig. (R) John Kenneth Williams, Muhammad Ali Khan Saif, Muhammad Farogh Naseem, Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh, Fida Muhammad, Prof. Dr. Mehr Taj Roghani, Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti, Seemee Ezdi, Sana Jamali And Muhammad Ayub, moved the following resolution:

“Whereas, Senator Saleem Mandviwala has ceased to command the confidence of the majority of the members of the Senate as the Deputy Chairman, the House resolves and declares that Senator Saleem Mandviwala has ceased to hold the Office of the Deputy Chairman, Senate of Pakistan.”

VOTING ON THE RESOLUTION;

The Presiding Officer informed the members regarding the voting procedure and thereafter the voting on the resolution by a secret ballot started. Total number of votes casted were 39, 38 votes were valid and 01 vote was rejected. 32 votes were cast in favour of the resolution whereas 6 votes were cast against the resolution.

So the resolution was not adopted by the votes of a majority of the total membership of the Senate. Consequently the resolution was rejected.

 At 5:25 p.m. the Presiding Officer read the prorogation order whereby the Senate session was prorogued indefinitely.
