Aaron Eckstein was a two-time captain of the team; Garland Green finished his career ninth on the Tech’s All-Time Scoring list; and Marshall Bailey became only the second Hokie golfer to compete in four NCAA Championships. Head Coach Jay Hardwick’s task has been to continue to develop his returning players while integrating three promising freshmen into the team, all toward the ultimate goal of competing for the national championship. The season began just outside Chicago, Ill., with the Hokies making their first appearance in the Northern Intercollegiate at renowned Rich Harvest Farms, site of the 2009 Solheim Cup. The team finished fourth against a talented field, and junior Mikey Moyers tied for third individually. The Hokies then finished fifth at the VCU Shootout at Hermitage Country Club, much closer to home in Richmond, Va. Freshman Scott Vincent led the team, tying for 11th place on the same course that he had won the Valentine Invitational just a few weeks earlier.

This was the second time the PGA Championship was hosted on The Straits, and for the second time on this riveting and unforgiving course, the winner had to be determined by a playoff. With the sun setting quickly and a nerve-wracking three-hole playoff between Martin Kaymer and Bubba Watson, it was Kaymer who pulled through for the win.

    Met Open Championship Presented by Callaway 103rdAugust 21 - 23, 2018 Wykagyl Country Club History of the Met Open Championship Presented by Callaway From its inception in 1905 through the 1940 renewal, the Met Open was considered one of the most prestigious events in golf, won by the likes of Gene Sarazen, Walter Hagen, Johnny Farrell, Tommy Armour, Paul Runyan, Byron Nelson, and Craig Wood, in addition to the brothers Alex and Macdonald Smith (who together captured seven Met Opens, with Alex winning a record four times). The second edition of the championship was hosted and sponsored by Hollywood Golf Club, when George Low won in 1906. After an eight-year hiatus overlapping World War II, the Met Open became more of a regional championship, won by many of the top local club professionals, among them Claude Harmon, Jimmy Wright, Jim Albus, David Glenz, Bobby Heins and Darrell Kestner, not to mention such storied amateurs as Chet Sanok, Jerry Courville Sr., George Zahringer III, Jim McGovern, Johnson Wagner, and Andrew Svoboda. The purse was raised to a record $150,000 in 2007, giving the championship added importance. In 2015 the MGA celebrated a major milestone in marking the championship’s 100th playing, won by Ben Polland at Winged Foot Golf Club. In 2017, The MGA welcomed a new Championship Partner, Callaway Golf. Callaway Golf is the presenting sponsor of the Met Open Championship. Eligibility The competition is open to golfers who are: 1. Below is a list of all the items that are being attended to. Enhanced Cleaning Policies: Golf Shop: 1. Facility restrooms 2. Handles, doors, highly touched areas 3. All items in the ice room 4. Tables, chairs, and countertops 5. Range machine, range baskets, sink in locker room 6. Employees using point of sale registers will use stylus pens 7. Hand Sanitizer available at the front counter for customers 8. Disinfectant spray and hand towels will be provided for the players to disinfect seats, steering wheels, and other touch areas of the golf cars 9. Employees cleaning golf cars after use will wear gloves as they clean and store golf cars for their protection 10. Golf cars will be sanitized before use, steering wheels, seats, and handles on seats 11. No more than 10 people inside the golf shop at one time. Golf Course Maintenance 1. Ball washers and water fountains will not be going out until later in the season 2. Rakes will be pulled out of the bunkers and stored, and maintenance employees will check bunkers once a day 3. Flags on the putting green will be removed 4. With the changes in rules that allow the flag to remain in the cup while putting, we ask that golfers NEVER touch or REMOVE the flagstick.

    THE 2006 PGA MEDIA GUIDE – 411 PGA of America Awards ¢ PGA Player of the Year The PGA Player of the Year Award is given to the top PGA Tour player based on his tournament wins, official money standing and scoring average. The point system for selecting the PGA Player of the Year was amended in 1982 and is as follows: 30 points for winning the PGA Championship, U.S. Open, British Open or Masters; 20 points for winning The Players Championship; and 10 points for winning all other designated PGA Tour events. In addition, there is a 50-point bonus for winning two majors, 75-point bonus for winning three, 100-point bonus for winning four. For top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour’s official money and scoring average lists for the year, the point value is: first, 20 points, then 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2.
