INTRODUCTION 1.1 The Yorkshire and Humber Assembly are currently preparing Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) for Yorkshire and the Humber in line with the Government's proposals for reforming the development plan system and the guidance in draft PPS11. 1.2 In line with this guidance the Assembly published a Project Plan in January 2004 setting out the issues and principles that will underpin the preparation of RSS. The Plan identifies a number of key issues and topic areas that are likely to be addressed in the drafting of RSS, including strategic patterns of development. -

Rotherham also has 27 Parish Councils and two Town Councils. The population of Rotherham is around 253,000, covers an area of 285 Km 2 and is 50% Rural. Rotherham has borders with Barnsley (to the north), Derbyshire (to the south west), Doncaster (to the east), Nottinghamshire (to the south east) and Sheffield (to the west). Rotherham Council is responsible for maintaining over 700 miles of roads. Dinnington Ward Profile 2019 Description Dinnington lies in the south east of Rotherham Borough, with a population of 13,080 (2017) and an area of 3,581 hectares. The ward is based on the small town and parish of Dinnington (population 9,200) as well as the villages and parishes of Laughton on le Morthen (population 1,250), Firbeck (population 290), Letwell and Gildingwells (population 210). Also included is the village of Laughton Common (population 2,120) which is part of Thurcroft parish. The ward is very varied with extensive rural areas as well as an industrial area, a deprived former mining community and modern suburban housing estates, popular with commuters. @Crown Copyright.
