Shown in Cascade Heritage & Zitron Unisono Shown in O~Wool Classic Fingering Shown in Knit Picks, Chroma Fingering f.10 4736 S 116 RD Bristol, VT 05443 :: ravelry.com ‘MarinJA’ :: [email protected] Shown in O~Wool Classic Fingering – This is the ‘example’ of the 6 color shawl, colors ‘called out’ in pattern A few pattern notes: •A lot of effort has been put into creating a pattern that the average knitter can find success with. If you are struggling with a portion of the pattern, my suggestion is to ASK a friend/fellow knitter to help; OR go to your local yarn store for help. It is almost always easiest and most productive to ask someone who can look at your knitting to see where you are struggling. Please e-mail me only after you have ‘tried to figure it out’, thank you. Special thanks to my LYS (Cacklin’ Hens in Middlebury, VT) without their insistence and SHOVING, this would never have been written and I would have cried much more often; thank you Amy, Cheryl & Crew! •Yarn Choice: This shawl is knit in FINGERING WEIGHT yarn. The first two shawls I made had 2 ‘long transition’ multi colored yarns (knit picks Chroma Fingering). I made the initial 6 color shawl to help show where colors were being used for the ease of reading the pattern. Yarn amounts are written only for 2 colors. •MAIN COLOR: 2 x Elann, A-Series S04 100g. /350m/381yds ((TOTAL of 700 m / 762 yds & 200 g)) •CONTRAST COLOR: 1 x Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Solid, Emerald -113 g / 420 yards GAUGE: using US 04’s and garter stitch - • CO- 15 and work in St St for 30 rows, • Your gauge should be as follows: • 24 sts to 4” & • 16 rows to 4” • Gauge is not crucial, except for the need of buying enough yarn •Needles Needles, round, size 40” (or larger) US 04/ 3.5mm •Notions: stitch markers, needle or hook to tuck in ends •Stitch markers are kept in place (at Center & every 10 sts) to help counting & maintain alignment with shape. Additional markers are added with increases at edges and center when appropriate. •Hints: You may wish to slip edge stitches (I slip the FIRST st on each row). Stitch markers stay in place and are slipped without notation throughout.. •Remember to carry second color (CC) color on the edge. I have noted this in the pattern. •Additional information is usually within parenthesis. These bits of information are to help confirm stitch counts and other information to help ensure correctness within the pattern. •Each full ‘shape’ has 7 garter rows on the right side. •Increases used were M1R & M1L. ANY increase you like can be used where the pattern asks you to M1. •Standard US Knitting Abbreviations used throughout. http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/knit.html I would suggest cutting the bottom of this page off and using it as a guide while you knit.
