If you need medical assistance but can’t make your way to a first aid point, please alert one of our staff members who can make contact with the roaming on-site medical team.

Hazard and Accident Reporting Health and Safety is everyone’s responsibility. It is your responsibility to check your area regularly for any hazards likely to cause injury and report these to Racecourse Control. Any accident or near miss must be reported to Racecourse Control immediately. Stay with any casualty until assistance arrives.

Terrorism While the chances of being caught up in a terrorist incident remain rare, it is important to be prepared and know how to protect yourself if the need arises. If you are caught up in an incident our advice is to ‘Run, Hide and Tell’ – guidance which can be applied to many places and situations.

We have been working very closely with the Counter Terrorism Policing to ensure our events are well equipped in prevention.

Hospitality & Restaurants

Job Descriptions Ticket Scanners – You will be required to scan every single customer ticket/membership card both in and out of the site within a timely manner. It is extremely important that we scan customers in and out so we know the number of customers on site. If someone exits without being scanned out and wishes to re-enter, the scanner will not allow it as it thinks the ticket is still ‘in’. The ticket scanners are most likely to be the first and last Goodwood member of staff the customer will see so they must maintain an extremely helpful and friendly manner at all times.

17

Ticket Sales – You will be selling tickets on the day to walk-up customers. You will use tills to sell the tickets that then present you with the cost for the customer. You will need to be accurate in cash handling to ensure no errors are made. You will also have to make sure you put through any concessions correctly. You will be required to explain any discrepancies so please ensure you take your time with each transaction. You will also be required to take card payments with a PDQ machine. Once sales have ceased you will need to ensure your takings balance to the amount of tickets you have sold. You will then go over this again with a member of the banking room to ensure it is perfect!

Racecard Sales –You will be selling race cards and timeforms, marking sales on a tally sheet. You will then need to ensure your money balances with the amount you have sold before returning to the banking room to cash up

Ticket Collections – You will be required to fulfil ticket collection orders using our ticketing system and a laptop. The customer will provide you with their booking reference or personal details, then you will need to scan out tickets to their un-dispatched orders.

Lennox Racecard/Upgrade Huts – You will be required to take tickets off of customers that wish to upgrade, take payment for the price difference then re-issue a new ticket for the upgraded enclosure. You will also sell racecards.

Gordon to Richmond Racecard/Upgrade Huts – You will be required to take tickets off of customers that wish to upgrade, take payment for the price difference then re-issue a new ticket for the upgraded enclosure. You will also sell racecards, and ties to those that are not dressed appropriately for the Richmond. The only exception is at QGF, when no upgrades to Richmond can be purchased as this enclosure becomes exclusive to Members and their guests.

Gate Supervisor – You will ensure that all the entry gate ticket scanners are in position with full working scanners. You will assist with any issues or invalid tickets at the gate and feed back to Ticket Office Control. You are also responsible for setting up the pay lanes and the Members Entrance Lane (East Entrance) in the morning and ensuring the area is clean and ready for customers. You will also need to help with the queues to ensure a slick and seamless journey for all customers.

Entrance Host - You will be situated outside of the entrance, greeting and directing customers. You will manage the queues, troubleshoot and ensure our customers have a positive start to their day. Once the gates quieten, you should act as an information presence within the Racecourse, returning to the gate later in the afternoon to begin wishing guests farewell.

Dress Code Host (QGF only) - You will be situated outside of the entrance, greeting customers whilst ensuring they are adhering to the Racecourse Dress Code. If any customers are not adhering to the dress code, you will be responsible for finding a solution from the stock of Clothing the Racecourse has on standby. Once the gates quieten, you should act as a roving presence within the Racecourse, monitoring the dress code in your enclosure and reacting to any customers that have breached the dress code. Once racing is nearing an end, please return to the gates later in the afternoon to begin wishing guests farewell.

Roaming Information Staff – Where possible you will be in pairs and roam round the site providing guests with information and answering questions. You will be provided with a yellow and red information sash to identify you as Information and you will also have a radio to help with any questions that you are unable to answer. Racecards Racecard & TimeForm Racecards and TimeForm are available to buy at all race meetings.

Racecourse Development Totepool will not renewing the betting contract, as since July 2018 British Racing Bet (Britbet) have been in operation, with Goodwood being 1/54th shareholder in the venture. This will allow us to run the betting operation at Goodwood with more control. Improvements to the betting services can be seen by new user friendly, wood style kiosks and units replacing the old Totepool kiosks.

There have been other significant updates to the March Stand. A new cloakroom and parent and baby room have been created next to the new betting kiosks in the West Side of the March Stand. Please note the Parent and Baby room is available to all guests, regardless of which enclosure they are in. Please escort guests from outside enclosures to the area. In addition, there is also a new Café now located where the old tobacconist was, with seating and TV screens.

We have installed a retractable hydraulic big screen in the Lennox Enclosure, which will greatly improve the race viewing for those in the Lennox and Gordon enclosures.

The Charlton Boxes have been redeveloped into one large space which now houses a Hospitality restaurant called The Long View. The Charlton Rooftop situated above will now be now accommodating Dancing at the Doghouse during QGF.

There has also been a name change and redevelopment of Sussex Bistro, now called The Kitchen in the Sussex Stand.
