In der Welt des Rock und Heavy Metal besetzen Kamelot seit mehr als 20 Jahren eine eigene, ganz besondere Position: Ihr raffinierter Melodic Metal hat sich immer schon auffallend geschickt artverwandten Spielweisen geöffnet, hat dabei progressive Versatzstücke ebenso integriert wie Querverweise an Doom/Gothic Metal oder Klassik und gerade dadurch ein eigenes Genre begründet. Speziell zwei ihrer erfolgreichsten Veröffentlichungen, die Alben Karma (2001) und The Black Halo (2005), sind Paradebeispiele für Vielschichtigkeit, Intensität und überragender Musikalität. Mit ihrem Werk Silverthorn steigerte die Band diesen hohen Standard sogar noch, denn Silverthorn ist ein wahres Meisterwerk an grossen Gesten, griffigen Melodien und packender Atmosphäre. Zudem stellt das Album selbstbewusst und stolz den neuen Sänger der Band in den Mittelpunkt: Gleich bei seinem Einstand beweist der schwedische Neuzugang Tommy Karevik, dass er in jeder Hinsicht perfekt zu Kamelot passt. Mit dem im 2015 erschienenen, aktuellsten Album Haven schlugen Kamelot ihre eigenen Rekorde in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz. Auf ihrem neusten Werk gastieren auch zwei Sängerinnen welche dem Kofmehl nicht unbekannt sind: Alissa White-Glutz welche im Dezember 2015 mit Arch Enemy in Solothurn zu Besuch war sowie Charlotte Wessels welche im Oktober 2015 mit Delain die Kofmehlbühne rockte. Let’s explain… …Only two years ago, dynamic frontwoman and world-class vocalist Jennifer Haben and her band colleagues celebrated their live debut on stage at the legendary Wacken Open Air 2014. Band: Kamelot (USA) Genre: Symphonic Metal Label: Napalm Records Album Titel: Haven Spielzeit: 53:59 VÖ: 08.05.2015 Die Amerikaner Kamelot bringen dieser Tage bereits ihr elftes Album auf den Markt. Sie gehören zu den Bands die Output für Output qualitativ hochwertige Alben abliefern und es trotzdem nicht schaffen, Meisterwerke zu kreieren. Auch das neue Werk "Haven" macht da leider keine Ausnahme. Was immer wieder besticht ist die Tatsache, dass es die Jungs aber stets hinbekommen einem diese Gänsehaut Momente und Gefühle zu bescheren, die auch bei dem Aktuellen Werk wieder zu genüge vorhanden sind. Ja, die Amis liefern da Symphony Metal der Extraklasse. Sie überraschen jedes Mal aufs Neue mit ihren Kompositionen. Die Stücke brauchen, wie so oft in diesem Genre, einige Durchläufe, aber dann fräsen sie sich in die Gehörgänge und hinterlassen ihre Spuren. Das Duo Palotai/Youngblood am Keyboard und der Gitarre, harmonieren genial miteinander und zeigen das sie wahre Meister an ihren Instrumenten sind. Sean Tibbets am Bass lässt auch keine Wünsche offen und verleiht den Songs den nötigen dunklen Anstrich und Schlagzeuger Casey Grillo beweist einmal mehr, dass er sein Instrument zu einhundert Prozent songdienlich beherrscht und gekonnt in Szene setzt. Schon der Anfang des Albums "Fallen Star" mit diesen wunderschönen Worten und untermalt von Gänsehaut Tönen erzeugt eine Atmosphäre, die nach mehr schreit. Jeder Song hat etwas Besonderes, aber leider fehlen die absoluten Kracher. Der "neue" Sänger, Tommy Karevik, ist für Kamelot ein absoluter Glücksgriff und überzeugt einen von Anfang an. Stellenweise klingt er, und das soll ein Kompliment sein, wie sein genialer Vorgänger Roy Khan.

While the Kamelot from Tampa is the most prominent band of this name, there are more bands using it in the world: 1) Kamelot is a power metal band from Tampa, Florida that incorporates progressive and symphonic elements into their music. The band was founded by guitarist Thomas Youngblood and drummer Richard Warner in 1991. In 1994 the band signed a deal with Noise Records; the release of their debut album Eternity followed in 1995. The next album, Dominion, was released in 1997. 1) Kamelot is a power metal band from Tampa, Florida that incorporates progressive and symphonic elements into their music. The band was founded by guitarist Thomas Youngblood and drummer Richard Warner in 1991. In 1994 the band signed a deal with Noise Records; the release of their debut album Eternity followed in 1995. The next album, Dominion, was released in 1997. Later that year, two of the band's members were replaced; drummer and founder Richard Warner and lead vocalist Mark Vanderbilt. Respectively, their replacements were Casey Grillo and Roy Khan (Roy S?tre ?Khan? Khantatat from Elverum in Norway - formerly of Conception). With the two new members, Kamelot released their third studio album, Siege Perilous. The new line-up undertook an extensive tour through Europe during the fall of the same year only to return to the Gate Studio in Wolfsburg twelve months later to produce the fourth studio effort The Fourth Legacy. The summer of 2000 brought the "New Allegiance Tour" through Germany, Austria, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Greece and Spain during which the recordings for Kamelot's first live album The Expedition were made.
