Naming of Proposed Private Road - 64, 66 and 68 Finch Avenue West - North York Centre (City Council at its regular meeting held on October 3, 4 and 5, 2000, and its Special Meetings held on October 6, 2000, October 10 and 11, 2000, and October 12, 2000, adopted this Clause, without amendment.) The North York Community Council recommends the adoption of the following report (August 25, 2000) from the City Surveyor, Works and Emergency Services: Purpose: This report recommends that the proposed private road at 64, 66 and 68 Finch Avenue West be named “English Garden Way”. Financial Implications and Impact Statement: There are no financial implications resulting from the adoption of this report. The estimated costs of $150 for the street name sign are to be paid by the developer. Recommendations: It is recommended that: (1) the proposed private road at 64, 66 and 68 Finch Avenue West, illustrated on Attachment No. 1, be named “English Garden Way”; (2) Elm Developments Corporation, be required to pay the costs estimated to be in the amount of $150, for the fabrication and installation of a street name sign; and (3) the appropriate City Officials be authorized and directed to take the necessary action to give effect thereto. Background: A request has been received from Joseph Morano of Elm Developments Corporation, to name a proposed private road at the development at 64, 66 and 68 Finch Avenue West, as shown on “Attachment No. 1”. The suggested names for the private road, in order of preference are “English Garden Way” and “Piccadilly Way”. The road is being named to facilitate numbering of 10 residential units fronting thereon. Comments: The proposed names were circulated for comment and have the support of Toronto Fire Services, Toronto Police Service and Councillors Norm Gardner and John Filion. Both names are acceptable and could be used to identify the private road at 64, 66 and 68 Finch Avenue West. The developer prefers the name “English Garden Way” and it is therefore recommended that his request be accommodated. Conclusions: The proposed name “English Garden Way” is consistent with the City of Toronto Street Naming Policy approved by City Council at its meeting held on August 1, 2, 3 and 4, 2000 (Clause 9, Report 15 of the Works Committee).
