Harms, Associate Director Published May 2012 3 Introduction The Kansas Ready Mixed Concrete Association (KRMCA) and the Kansas Aggregate Producers' Association (KAPA) are proud to present this Directory. The use of this Directo- ry and association member services will contribute to the strength of the two Associations. The officers and directors of the associations constantly work toward the betterment of the construction industry. If there is anything the two Associations can do to help, please do not hesitate to contact the Associations' office. The Manufacturers and Technical Division, who are principally responsible for this Directory’s publication, deserve consideration when purchasing goods or services. We hope this Directory will be useful to your everyday business. Purposes of the Associations ♦ The exchange of ideas and information relative to the production, sale and use of aggregate products and ready mixed concrete in Kansas. ♦ Dedicated to promoting and enlarging the use and consumption of industry products ♦ Provide a basis for the members of the aggregate and ready mixed concrete industries to coordinate their efforts in solving common problems ♦ Perform acts and services on behalf of the industry that may be more satisfactorily performed by group action as opposed to an individual one. ♦ KAPA-KRMCA is dedicated to the betterment of the ready mixed concrete and aggregate industries in the state of Kansas and works for both members and non- members. 4 HistoryHistory of ofthe the Associations Association Kansas Ready Mixed Concrete Association Kansas Aggregate Producers' Association The Kansas Ready Mixed Concrete Association was formed on January 16, 1957, in Wichita, Kansas. It was chartered as a non-profit trade association on February 26, 1957. There were 32 charter members, representing the major ready mixed concrete firms in Kansas, and most of them are still members. This organization is dedi- cated to the betterment of the ready mixed concrete in- dustry in the state of Kansas and works for both members and non-members. The association distributes literature beneficial to the membership, sponsors district or regional meetings each year for members and their guests and publishes this an- nual directory. This directory is available, free of charge, to members, engineers, contractors and public officials in Kansas. The first president of the association was Mr. Vic Baum, Great Bend. The presidency has been held by principal officers of many member companies listed in the present directory. Over the years, the membership has grown from the original 32 to approximately 70 compa- nies. Because of the close association between aggregate producers and the ready mixed concrete industry, the Kansas Aggregate Producers' Association was formed in 1967 from the Kansas Sand and Gravel Producers' Asso- ciation (circa 1965) and the Kansas Limestone Associa- tion which was founded by John Riddell, Bob Killough, & Norman Hamm in 1948. Mr. Floyd Stryker of Blue Rapids was the first president of the Associations. Today, the Kansas Aggregate Producers' Association represents approximately 70 of sand, gravel and crushed stone pro- ducers. The associations maintain a joint office in Topeka under Managing Director Edward R. "Woody" Moses. He is assisted by Wendy Harms, Associate Director. The asso- ciation staff operates under the direction of a board of directors representing both organizations and conducts business such as lobbying activities, educational activi- ties, meetings, and maintains a close relationship with the national organizations representing our industries. 5 2012 KAPA Officers & Directors Term Expires Randy Hattesohl, President 2015 APAC Kansas Inc.
