As the helpful soul that he is, Bertie continues to try to come to the aid of his friends whenever they're in need, and although his intentions are always for the best nothing ever seems to work out quite right for anyone until Jeeves steps in and invariably saves the day. By: Ring for Jeeves. is one of nature's gentlemen, so when Gussie Fink-Nottle gets himself into a spot of bother with the law, Ring for Jeeves helps out - by impersonating Gussie! The plan seems to be working, until Gussie turns up - impersonating Bertie! This hilarious installment of the inimitable manservant Jeeves and his twit of an employer, Bertie Wooster, is one of the best stories written by the master of the pen, prank, and pun. When Bertie Wooster goes to stay with his at Brinkley Court and finds himself engaged to the imperious Lady Florence Ring for Jeeves, disaster threatens from all sides. Bertie Wooster has a growing collection of sticky wickets. Thankfully, Bertie can always count on Jeeves to exert his subtle influence at precisely the right moment, saving the day with impeccable precision. Newsweek says "they are at their best in . Bertie Wooster's newfound enthusiasm for the banjolele results Ring for Jeeves his eviction from his apartment and, to his outrage, having to take notice from his hitherto devoted manservant, Jeeves. Repairing to the country with his banjolele and new valet, Brinkley, Bertie soon finds himself in no shortage of trouble. A visit to an American yacht ends with him locked Ring for Jeeves a stateroom by a prospective father-in-law. The Times has announced, much to Bertie's astonishment, the news of his engagement to the beautiful Bobbie Wickham. But worse is to come Uncle Tom's antique silver cow-creamer has gone missing; Kipper Herring has libelled his and Bertie's former headmaster; leading British psychiatrist Sir Roderick Glossop is posing as a butler; and Aunt Dahlia's masterly French chef, Anatole, is once again becoming a pawn in a terrible power struggle. On doctor's orders, Bertie Wooster retires to sample the Ring for Jeeves delights of Maiden Eggesford. But his idyll is rudely shattered by Ring for Jeeves Dahlia who wants him to nobble a racehorse. Similar blots on Bertie's horizon come in the shape of Major Plank, the African explorer, Vanessa Cook, proud beauty and "molder of men," and Orlo Porter who seems to have nothing else to do but think of sundering Bertie's head from his body. The one thing that could be expected to disturb the peace of life at Blandings is the incursion of imposters. Blandings has imposters like other houses have mice. On this occasion there are two of them--both intent on a dangerous enterprise. My Man Jeevesfirst published inintroduced the world to affable, indolent Bertie Wooster and his precise, capable valet, Jeeves. Some of the finest examples of humorous writing found in English literature are Ring for Jeeves around the relationship between these two men of very different classes and temperaments. Where Bertie is impetuous and Ring for Jeeves, Jeeves is coolheaded and poised. Ring for Jeeves - even Augustus the cat - has cause to Ring for Jeeves obliged to Jeeves when he manages to retrieve the infamous Book - the book which lays bare the private lives of three-quarters of the upper classes. And which could prove to be political dynamite at the Market Snodsbury by-election. The usual suspects, including Lord Emsworth and his prize pig, Ring for Jeeves Empress, line up at Blandings Castle for a Wodehousian caper that sees members of the upper-classes getting hot and bothered over a nude painting they all want to get their hands on. This is wit at its very finest, read by one of our superlative actors, who reads Wodehouse with the requisite style and panache. A Ring for Jeeves mix-up at Blandings Castle, in which Galahad introduces yet another imposter to Lord Emsworth's residence and the Empress Ring for Jeeves Blandings gets sloshed in her sty. Formidable comic characters designed to interrupt Lord Emsworth's peace include his overbearing sister Lady Hermione Wedge who comes complete her own meddling secretary, and Dame Daphne Winkworth who has her eye on becoming the next Countess. As ever the stage is set for Gally to try and restore order to the ensuing chaos! The house party at Chateau Blissac, Brittany, features a rather odd array of guests this year. Wellington Gedge is hoping for some peace and quiet while his wife takes herself off for a while. She, however, has invited numerous visitors to the chateau, to whom he will have to play reluctant host. Senator Opal and his daughter are expected, and so is the chateau's handsome owner, Vicomte de Blissac. When Maud Marsh flings herself into George Ring for Jeeves cab in Piccadilly, he starts believing in damsels in distress. George traces his mysterious traveling companion to Belpher Castle, home of Lord Marshmoreton, where things become severely muddled. Maud, meanwhile, is known to be in love with an unknown American she met in Wales. So when George turns up speaking American, a nasty case of mistaken identity breaks out. We find ourselves in the austerity of the s, when England's aristocracy was feeling the pinch. Bertie Wooster has gone to a residential self-help school to learn how to darn his socks. Until he re- emerges, Jeeves has signed up with Bill Rowcester pronounced Roasteran earl who is failing to make ends meet in trade, and yearning to sell his stately home, which has charm and damp in equal measure. In his new environment Jeeves is required to exert his mammoth brain to what would be breaking point for any normal intellect. If Ring for Jeeves wasn't enough, we also meet a rich American lady with addictions to a psychic phenomena, and b White Hunters, which have to be humoured by night as well as by day. Believe it or not, Jeeves flits across this minefield with all the grace and agility of an adagio dancer and makes it look easy, which is yet another indication of his truly Olympian stature. I have Ring for Jeeves listening to Jeeves, read by the same author for 15 years. This was my first experience with a new author, and he did a absolutely superb job! Loved it! Familiar story, tweaked a bit for the jaded post War reader, Jeeves way too chatty, and at times seems to doubt himself. Excellent performance by . That's how perfect this is. Another enjoyable Jeeves book. It's not my number one favorite in the series, and I feel I enjoy the ones with Bertie Ring for Jeeves more, but it's Ring for Jeeves not bad, and did have a few memorable bits, like "Do you speak Spanish well? Vocabulary and theme as well done as all the others. Accept no substitutes!! Martin Jarvis has done it again! Gloriously read. PG Woodhouse's comic prose have been brought to life Ring for Jeeves. This is a sorry about Rooster not Wooster with Jeeves the forever cunning and humble. Wodehouse stories are always barmy to use his word, but when they're read by Martin Jarvis they become sublime and Ring for Jeeves great listen. I think Wodehouse stories were made to be read out loud by a master and this is such a one. I think Jarvis could make the Yellow pages interesting! Do listen to this if you need taking out of yourself during this difficult time. Brilliantly read by Martin Jarvis so worth the money. The man was a genius so some great writing but story pretty thin and made up in the hoof. Fans will enjoy it but there are many better earlier Jeeves books. A full six hours of pure joy. Marin Jarvis was Brilliant as always. My car has never been cleaner along with many other chores Carried out whilst listening with earphones. Would recommend this to anyone and everyone. Just downloading the second book. Fantastic service Ring for Jeeves audible wish I had done it years ago. Some lovely wordplay. Great fun for lovers of words and the ability to relate to the cultural references. What did you like most about Ring for Jeeves? What a pleasure Ring for Jeeves hear this story so superbly read by Mr Jarvis. It was a funny, silly, nostalgic return to a forgotten Britain. When one Ring for Jeeves character acidly states to her husband 'how very droll you are today', I laughed out in sheer delight. When was the last time I have heard anyone say 'droll' Thank God for Jeeves Ring for Jeeves. Narrated by: Martin Jarvis. Length: 5 hrs and 4 mins. Add to Cart failed. Please try again later. Bill, Lord Rowcester was well and truly Ring for Jeeves the gumbo. With the benefit of hindsight he could see that setting himself up as a Silver Ring bookie might not have been his smartest move ever. Particularly when Ring for Jeeves down on his dibbs threatens his oncoming nuptials with the sterling Jill Wyvern. Lucky for Bill he had the land- lease of Jeeves.
