PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE DEAR AA MEMBERS We concluded our Annual General Meeting on 23 May. We had a PUBLISHER lively discussion at the meeting and it’s always a pleasure to be able to hear from our members and address your concerns. On behalf of the Association, I would like to thank two of our long-serving General Committee Members, Mr Lee Han Yang and Mr Tan Chian Khong, who have stepped down from the GC. Han Yang and Chian Khong have shared and contributed tremendously to the Association for the past 30 and 18 years respectively. We thank them for serving the Association and wish them all the best. AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION OF SINGAPORE I’m delighted to share that on 5 May, AA Singapore was awarded the Plaque of Commendation during NTUC’s May Day PRESIDENT Awards 2018. If you had been at the GB Point outlet of Automobile Association of Singapore (AA Singapore) on 13 April 2018, you would have noticed a booth featuring colourful games at the lobby. These interactive games were part of the programme line-up for Responsible Gambling Awareness Week (RGAW) 2018, which ran from 5–13 April. It was organised by the Responsible Gambling Forum (RGF). Based on the theme, ‘Have You Crossed the Line’, the games were designed to get people to check their gambling behaviour. Members who dropped by the booth had fun trying their hand at throwing magnetic darts, playing a memory game, and rolling the jackpot reel. Commenting on the checks done, Taxi Baby’s Elise Mawson says, “Almost all the car seats were installed too loosely, which increases how much the children will be thrown around the car in the event of a crash.” She adds that a common problem was the placement of the seatbelt through the wrong part of the car seat when attempting to install the seat safely. This was the case for Sunoordy Su, who was at the event with his wife Afi qah, and son Anaqy, aged two years and fi ve months. “I had a problem securing the seat using the seat belt. There is only so much you can learn from a YouTube video,” he laments.
