Provincetown has a central location for fresh produce so that those who access the pantries and other community programs can eat fresh fruits and vegetables on a regular basis. A community fridge, accessible to all. People can drop off fresh, uncut fruits and veggies, and people can take them. There are shelves available for produce that does not refrigerate well. J&E Produce and Stop and Shop are among the largescale, committed produce donors, as the goal is to reduce food waste in the community as well. Shoppers need to bring their own bags when they come to pickup produce. The program will be run primarily by volunteers who will manage quality control of the fridge’s contents, pick up items from regular donors, and help get the word out about the fridge. Anyone interested in volunteering or providing regular donations contact Morgan Clark at the Provincetown Health Dept. The fridge opened for produce swapping on Tuesday, September 3rd. The Board of Directors at SKIP is pleased to partner on the new Provincetown Crop Swap program to complement SKIP’s existing November to April soup kitchen operations.

Bowersock Gallery 373 Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA. Contact: Steve Bowersock 1-508-487-4994

Aug 30th, through Sept 10th 2019; opening reception, Aug 30th 7 to 9p Surrealism and Dreams, "Soul's Voyagers" at the Bowersock Gallery, features reflective surrealist painter Steve Bowersock and narrative cross-medium sculptor Jeanne' McCartin. "Voyagers" hallmarks are the contemplative and disquieting realities in picturesque depiction. Bowersock and McCartin's common denominators are exploration and symbolism; they both cruise deeply inward for images with which to wrestle. How they go about it and what they examine, however, varies widely.

Bowersock, the gallery's curator, exhibits throughout the United States, from New England, to Florida and west to California. "Voyagers" features his “Wind Swept,” a new series of moody dreamscapes, many delving further into earlier explorations.

"Wind Swept," canvases 'trip' through a broad field of polychromatic, deftly painted subjects. There are umbrellas, and balloons twirling in darkened skies, and ethereal women, wrapped in swirling fabrics, commanding winds as they move through space. Single figures stand in awe welcoming whatever the rolling clouds and churning airs carry their way. Each portends an evocative, complex reality. “Stay Strong” Women’s Cancer Support Group Lower/Outer Cape

FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 – 15 THE FOURTH ANNUAL PROVINCETOWN BOOK FESTIVAL Three days of literary events for readers, writers, and book lovers of all kinds.

The Provincetown Book Festival will kick off at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14,with a curated reading by local authors, judged by prominent New York literary agent Adam Chromy. The writers chosen are John Bonnani, Alexander Marshall, Steven Bruce Myerson, Judith Newcomb Stiles, Jan Worthington, and Beth Ruggiero York. The six writers will be reading poetry, fiction, and non-fiction, some of it published, some of it from works in progress. For this event, dubbed “Reading Local,” Mr. Chromy reviewed numerous submissions from local Provincetown and Cape Cod writers.
