The McLaren Vale Vintage and Classic .5

The McLaren Vale Vintage and Classic is a unique event that has a Grand Street Parade and drive through the picturesque areas of McLaren Vale ending up at a predetermined destination winery for a show and shine, wine tasting and picnic style lunch.

There were several FOCC members who participated in this event and from what I saw they had a great time. We had our vehicles on display at the Angove’s winery. We set up our shade and enjoyed a picnic lunch on the lawn next to the winery building. The management and staff at Angoves were very welcoming and offered great specials on their products.

Lee attracted a crowd when he activated the roof on his Galaxie. Roof goes up, roof goes down, roof goes up, etc, etc. Look forward to Thank you to Paul & Gloria Howe for providing This article going again next year.

6. The Vintage Caravan Group

The Vintage Caravan Group displayed their

car/caravan combos at the Clipsal this year. They set up in the family area at Rymill Park.

There were about 25 vans in total with a variety of tow vehicles.

All the caravans are all pre Neil Phillips with the A model and early caravan replica built by Neil 1970 and the cars are "of

the same era". A bright red ZF Fairlane FOCC members were also towing a bondwood represented in a display of Fords and Holdens and caravan. included Ron Tebby's GT Note the "jelly falcon as featured in a bean" previous issue of this mags are in magazine keeping with that era! EcoBoost

Traditional petrol engine thinking is that size equals power. That’s why our EcoBoost engine technology has amazed the sceptics. While their smaller size delivers greater fuel economy, their power output is that of a larger traditional petrol engine

A combination of direct fuel injection and turbocharging is the key to EcoBoost’s small engine fuel efficiency and big engine power. Twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) completes the picture.

EcoBoost engines can reduce fuel consumption by up to 20% and help reduce CO2 emissions.

Direct fuel injection

Every drop of fuel is burnt by injecting a highly pressurised, precise amount of fuel directly into the combustion chamber of each cylinder in the engine. An electronic control system varies the timing and intensity of each injection to match the engine’s operating conditions. This improves fuel efficiency and delivers smoother performance.

Turbocharging

Turbocharging uses the engine’s exhaust gases, which would otherwise be wasted, to push more highly compressed air into the engine. The more air in the combustion chamber, the more power you get out.

Together with variable cam timing, it generates high torque low in the rev range (rpm) and maintains peak power over a wide range. This gives immediate responsive power when you accelerate.

Cool air intake valves and hot air exhaust valves simultaneously overlap so more air flows through the combustion chambers for a very cool, dense charge that helps build torque in the engine. The extra air flow also helps the turbocharger’s turbine to run faster so engine output builds very quickly, virtually eliminating any ‘turbo lag’.

No balance shaft

The traditional fast-rotating balance shaft used to offset shaking forces for greater refinement adds weight, cost and uses a lot of fuel. So we took it out of our 1.0L EcoBoost engine. Instead, we deliberately unbalanced the flywheel and front pulley in a way that combines mathematically with piston movements to offset shaking forces for a highly refined performance.

Did you know? A street-legal Formula Ford racing car with a specially-tuned 1.0L EcoBoost has clocked the 11th fastest time at Germany’s legendary Nurburgring circuit. Its impressive time of just 7’22” beat the likes of the Lamborghini Aventador and Ferrari Enzo. Watch the lap Formula Ford EcoBoost.
