About the Festival ABOUT THE FESTIVAL 20201 THE SPASSKAYA TOWER FESTIVAL IS ONE OF THE LARGEST INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL PROJECTS OF RUSSIA 2 HISTORY OF THE FESTIVAL • The Festival saw light in 2007. • It’s name the Spasskaya Tower Military Tattoo got in 2009. • Since 2013 the Festival’s motto has been “Reviving traditions, retaining history”. • Participants of the Festival are some of the world’s best military bands and honor guard units, dance companies and artistic ensembles. • 160 groups from 54 countries have taken part in the Festival over 12 years of its history. 3 THE SPASSKAYA TOWER FESTIVAL IS ONE OF THE WORLD’S BEST MILITARY TATTOOS 4 MILITARY TATTOO • Since May 2010, the Spasskaya Tower Festival has been part of the International Association of Tattoo Organizers (IATO). • Among other IATO members are the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Berlin Military Music Festival, Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, the Netherlands Military Tattoo and others • In December 2019, the Spasskaya Tower Military Tattoo became a full-fledge member of the Asian Marching Band Confederation. • Among the guests of the Russian Festival there have been heads of the Edinburgh, Bremen, Basel, Dutch, Norwegian and other military tattoos. • As of 2019 the Spasskaya Tower Festival is rated among the three best military tattoos of the world, being highly appraised both for its creativity and organization. 5 MILITARY TATTOO 6 WORLD’S LARGEST MILITARY TATTOOS THE ROYAL EDINBURGH BASEL TATTOO THE SPASSKAYA TOWER MILITARY TATTOO MILITARY TATTOO • Date of foundation – 1950 (70 years) • Date of foundation – 2006 (14 years) • Date of foundation – 2007 (13 years) • Number of performances – 24 shows • Number of performances – 15 shows • Number of performances – 11 shows • Number of artists – 1 200 participants • Number of artists – 1 000 participants • Number of artists – 1 500 participants • Audience attending ~ 9 000 people • Audience attending ~ 8 000 people • Audience attending ~ 7 500 people • Audience per year – 220 000 people • Audience per year – 120 000 people • Audience – 90 000 people • TV audience – 100 000 000 people • TV audience – 450 000 people • TV and online audience – over 7 mln people 7 THE SPASSKAYA TOWER FESTIVAL IS A MULTIDIMENSIONAL PROJECT 8 FESTIVAL PROGRAM • THE SPASSKAYA TOWER FESTIVAL IS A GENUINE MANIFESTATION OF CULTURE • With Red Square as its central venue, the Festival is held annually at the end of the summer season (end of August/beginning of September) in Moscow. • Along with the evening shows, program of the Festival features a great number of side events and special projects, including big marching parade on VDNH and performances staged by the Festival’s foreign participants in Moscow parks and railway stations. • All year round the Spasskaya Tower Festival is actively engaged in Moscow’s cultural life, supporting events featuring participation by Russian military and ministerial bands, as well as carrying out its own projects, e.g. the Children and Youth Wind Band Contest (in May), the Military Bands in the City Parks project (form May till August) and single performances onstage of different city venues. • ALL SIDE EVENTS OF THE FESTIVAL ARE FREE OF CHARGE AND ARE AWARDED TO THE CITIZENS ON BEHALF OF THE SPASSKAYA TOWER FESTIVAL 9 FESTIVAL SPECIAL PROJECTS THE FESTIVAL IS ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN REVIVING CHILDREN AND YOUTH BAND MOVEMENT IN RUSSIA • The Children and Youth Wind Band Contest is held annually in Moscow’s Zaryadye Park at the end of May, immediately before the celebration of the International Children’s Day. • In 2019 about 1 500 young musicians from the Central Federal District took part in the contest. All in all, there were 28 children and youth wind bands, drummer and majorette groups. • At the end of the contest all its participants are combined into the Spasskaya Tower Children and Youth Massed Wind Band. In 2019 it featured 32 bands and 7 choirs. • The idea of creating the children massed band belongs to the Deputy Prime Minister (2012-2020) Olga Golodets and Lieutenant General Valery Khalilov. • Winners of the contest are given an opportunity to show all their skills and talents at the Children and Youth Wind Band Festival held annually onstage of the Festival’s Children Playground within the days of the Festival. 10 FESTIVAL SPECIAL PROJECTS THE FESTIVAL IS ALSO ENGAGED IN REVIVING AN OLD-TIME RUSSIAN TRADITION OF MILITARY BANDS PERFORMING IN THE CITY PARKS AND GARDENS • Annually (since 2016) during the spring/summer season the Directorate of the Festival carries out its Military Bands in the City Parks special project. • Featuring participation of the Russian Military Band Music Service, the program enjoys support provided by the Russian Ministry of Defense and Moscow’s Department of Culture. • Every Saturday along the whole spring/summer season some of the best military bands perform onstage of the city open-air venues. • The 2019 run of the project saw 16 concerts in 14 parks. • They took place in the Alexander Garden, Victory Park on Poklonnay Hill, Gorkiy Park, Ermitazh Garden, Muzeon and other popular places of the city. 11 ALL THE GUESTS WILL SPEND QUALITY TIME AT THE FESTIVAL 12 FESTIVAL ON RED SQUARE THE EVENT PROGRAM OF THE FESTIVAL includes: • DAYTIME PROGRAM with the Spasskaya Tower for Children activities held at the Children Playground and shows on the horse-riding arena. All events are free. • EVENING PROGRAM with the Festival’s evening shows on the main stage, performances on the horse-riding arena and activities at the Children playground. 13 SPECIAL PROJECTS, SIDE EVENTS THE SPASSKAYA TOWER FOR CHILDREN • It is being carried out within the Festival’s main program since 2013. • Chief target audiences are children aged from 4 to 13. • Children’s playground is a unique educational and entertainment space featuring various master classes, contests and other interactive activities. • All activities of the Children’s playground are grouped to cover different aspects, with history, military traditions, culture and music being at the top. All the activities are carried out in separate topic-related pavilions. • To attract additional audiences extra topic-related programs are being developed including the Sports Day, Music Day, Professions Day, Horse Day, etc. • The Children and Youth Wind Band Festival has already become a well- established part of the Spasskaya Tower for Children featuring performances of some of the best young musicians from all over Russia. Since its creation in 2014, over 100 ensembles from 24 regions of Russia as well as from abroad have performed beneath the Kremlin walls. • In 2015 the Children and Youth Honor Guards Interregional Competition become part of the Festival’s main program, with more than 50 teams from 25 regions of Russia already shown their precise ceremonial skills. 14 SPECIAL PROJECTS, SIDE EVENTS 15 SPECIAL PROJECTS, SIDE EVENTS THE KREMLIN EQUESTRIAN SCHOOL • In 2019 the Festival horse-riding arena celebrated its first tenth anniversary. • Since 2007 the Kremlin Equestrian School has been partnering with the Spasskaya Tower Festival being responsible for the equestrian program of each Festival’s production. • Following events are carried out within the sports and entertaining program on the horse-riding arena: • children and youth show-jumping competition for the prize of the Spasskaya Tower Festival; • traditional children and youth acrobatic trick riding (jigitovka) competition; • performances by equestrian and acrobatic artists; • performances by famous international groups presenting their colorful and vibrant show programs. • Everyday audiences of the horse-riding arena have an opportunity to witness performances presented by the Kremlin Equestrian School, permanent participant of the Festival, as well the world-famous Cavalry Escort of the Presidential Regiment and unique Children Group of Cavalry Ceremonial of the Kremlin Equestrian School. 16 SPECIAL PROJECTS, SIDE EVENTS 17 FESTIVAL SIDE EVENTS Every year the Spasskaya Tower Military Tattoo offers a number of must-have events. Featuring participation of the Festival foreign guests, they are held at some of the most iconic places of Moscow : • Big Spasskaya Tower marching parade on VDNH. In 2019 over 40 thousand of Moscow citizens and guests witnessed this spectacular show. • In 2019 Russian and foreign participants of the Festival staged performances in seven city parks and five railway stations. 18 FESTIVAL SIDE EVENTS In 2019 the Spasskaya Tower Festival paid special honors to the elderly citizens of the capital, organizing a special Moscow Longevity Day on Red Square. 872 participants of the Moscow Longevity program, carried out by the Mayor of Moscow, sang a song by Isaac Dunaevskiy considered to be the official hymn of the capital. It’s worth noting that the number of the choir vocalists coincided with the actual age of the city, as in 2019 Moscow celebrated its 872th anniversary. 19 OVER THE YEARS INTEREST TO THE SPASSKAYA TOWER MILITARY TATTOO ON BEHALF OF THE AUDIENCES, PARTICIPANTS AND MEDIA HAS NEVER SEIZED GROWING 20 AUDIENCES OF THE FESTIVAL • More than 500 000 people * visit Red Square during the Festival (including daytime activities) • Annually about 90 000 people* become audience to the Festival • The target audiences of the Festival* are: • Moscow citizens • Aged from 25-60 • With average income or above average • With active social position * - according to the Festival Directorate 21 GUESTS OF HONOR • Every year the Spasskaya Tower Festival welcomes among its guests officials representing

Four tattoo artists and eleven tattooed individuals were recruited and interviewed about the nature of the tattoo experience in order to determine the nature of the experience and its meaning to the participants. The participants were also interviewed about their knowledge of the social consequences involved with getting tattooed, and whether or not tattooing has become socially acceptable. Two tattoo artists did not complete the structured interviews, but each participated in an unstructured interview. Lastly, twelve participants were asked to free-list, sort, and scale their free-list of recreational activities on several attributes of leisure. The data from these instruments affirmed that the idea of leisure is subjective among the participants.

The band will send sparks flying with their dynamic, precision drumming showcase which received global recognition following their first performance at the Edinburgh Tattoo in 2003. Featuring exquisitely timed drills, their Sydney performance will comprise of an arrangement called ‘The White Cross and the Southern Cross’. Top Secret Drum Corps was borne by seven young drummers in 1991. They wanted to preserve Basel’s rich drumming heritage and began mixing the traditional style of drumming with other drum times and striking visual effects. To date, they’ve played at five Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo shows. The groups will form part of the cast of more than 1,500 international performers from countries including the UK, Papua New Guinea and France, for the biggest-ever cast line up in the Tattoo’s 69-year history. Under the theme ‘At All Points of the Compass’, the show will take guests on a tour of the world, guiding them around 360 degrees of the atlas to tell the compelling tale of Australia’s place in history and its links with allies and friends, including Switzerland. To celebrate this theme, the Australian show will take the audience on a circular tour around an imaginary compass rose with its centre at the dusty red heart of the continent - at Lambert Centre.

Deqbasi proposed that electoral districts be based on the six existing governorates in the country, with four of the governorates electing 10 MPs each and the remaining two electing just five lawmakers each to make up the 50 members of the National Assembly. According to the bill, residential areas in the Capital governorate will make up the first constituency, which will elect 10 MPs. Each eligible voter will be allowed to select a maximum of four candidates. Hawally, Farwaniya and Ahmadi governorates will make the sec- ond, third and fourth constituencies respectively, and each of them will elect 10 lawmakers. Also, each voter in these districts can select a maximum of four candidates. The last two districts will be that of Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Jahra governorates, with each electing five MPs and every voter allowed to select up to two candidates.
