The second goal of this program is for participants to understand the nature and wildness of the world through the wildness of not only the three wolves, but all the other animals at the refuge. In doing so, the students begin to understand human nature in a more intimate way.

The goal of traditional yoga is to go with the flow. But during Yoga with Wolves, Wenn takes it a bit farther by having the students take a time out to appreciate all of the animals at the refuge, who, like them, are there in order to heal. 15 “The larger mission for me is healing,” Wenn says.4 The refuge10 “is a healing place for animals, but I [would] like it to be a healing class for the people who come.” 1 5

To the yoga instructor dedicated12 to2 spreading art of healing, it made sense to incorporate her love with yoga with the goal of the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge and Rehabilitation Center, which is to heal and rehabilitate wounded animals. 3 City Hall Pl 9 13 With visitors coming to the refuge from all over the country, Wenn says it is more 2 important than ever14 17for programs16 like Yoga with Wolves to help remind people 1 4 of what not only the local area, but the8 world, could lose if it’s not protected.

5 Pike St 3 “A lot of folks come here11 who love nature, and you quickly realize they have no idea how it really works,” HallDurkee St. says. “Wolves are a good introduction to7 how nature works.”

Yoga with Wolves takes place every Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge and Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington. The fee to join the class costs $10 to $20. Half of the fee will go toward the refuge. For more information or to sign up, call 518-524-6485, email marci.wenn@gmail. com or visit the refuge’s Facebook page.
