Bells and Van Alstyne topped the list with "A" grades. Denison, Whitewright and Whitesboro ISDs all received a "B." Sherman finished the year with a "C."

Sherman ISD Superintendent Dr. David Hicks said the grade for his district is not an accurate representation of the work they do. "Our teachers that come early and stay late and tutor our kids? That's not measured in a test score. How the teachers care about the personal needs of our children? That's not measured in a test score," he said. "I want our parents to know that we've got great things going on, and none of that is in our accountability system." The grades for each district are based on three main categories: student achievement, school progress, and a section called "closing the gap."
