Bordercrossing from Kunming to Hanoi (14 days) Day 1 Kunming-Shilin-Jianshui
Arrival in Kunming. Meet and greet by your local guide. Car ride to Shilin and visiting the Stone Forrests. Afterwards transfer to Jianshui. Jianshui is an ancient town of 1000 years history and has many historic sites. Day 2 Jianshui-Yuanyang
Visiting the Confucius Temple, the second largest of ist kind in China, the private Garden of Family Zhu and the Tuanshan Village. Afterwards Transfer to Yuanyang. Day 3 Yuanyang
One day trekking in the rice terraces in Yuanyang and visiting en route some authentic villages of Hani ethnic minority. Day 4 Yuanyang-Hekou-Sapa
Car ride towards Hekou, the border. The road follows the fertile valley of Red River, which flows in southeastern direction into Vietnam. After the immigration formalities transfer to Sapa. Day 5 Sapa
One day bike tour (most downhills) through the beautiful surroundings of Sapa. The brilliant green terraced rice fields stand in a vast contrast to the rugged mountain slopes and the often snow-capped peaks surrounding the valley. Day 6 Sapa-Dien Bien Phu
Away from the usual tourist paths we travel through the remote mountain areas of northern Vietnam to Dien Bien Phu. Along the way there is the possibility to visit some more villages of the Hmong or the Dzao ethnic minority. The Dzao ethnic minority can be found in southern China as well as in Laos and northern Vietnam. The Dzao are known for their elaborate and colorful traditional dresses. Day 7 Dien Bien Phu-Son La
Dien Bien Phu was 1954 the scene of a brutal and decisive battle between French Colonial Power and the Vietnamese Communists. Visiting the war museum and a command bunker. In the afternoon, drive along the recently upgraded road No. 6 through spectacular scenery to Son La Day 8 Son La-Mai Chau
If possible we visit the bustling morning market of Son La, followed by a visit of the Son La prison, where anti-colonial revolutionaries were imprisoned. Continue our journey to Mai Chau through one of Vietnams major teas growing areas with visiting a tea plantation. Day 9 Mai Chau-Hanoi
Car ride to Hanoi. En route stop at a village which is inhabited by the Muong ethnic group and a short boat tour on the Hoa Binh Lake. Day 10 Hanoi
One day city tour in Hanoi. Visiting the Ngoc Son Temple which is located on a small island of Hoan Kiem Lake, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Museum of Ethnology, the "One Pillar Pagoda", a unique wooden structure which was originally built in 11th. century. Day 11 Hanoi-Halong Bay
Car ride to Halong Bay, where we check into our cabins aboard our comfortable Junk. Halong Bay is one of the most breathtaking scenic spots in Vietnam and was designated as a World Natural Heritage in 1994. It is a picturesque bay with some 1969 islets rising from the clear emerald waters of the Gulf of Tonkin. The limestone basin has been carved into stalactite caves, crescent beaches and odd-shaped formations. Day 12 Halong Bay Cruise
Halong Bay Cruise. Explore by Kayak some hidden caves and tunnels that have been artfully created by erosion over million of years. Walking tour in a fish village and relax yourself on the deck. Day 13 Halong Bay-Hanoi
Visitng another fishing village on the way back to Bai Chai. Disemark in the afternoon and drive back to Hanoi. Day 14 Depart
Transfer to airport. Depart.
