DEFINATION OF LARGE DAMS AS PER ICOLD DISCLAIMER ABSTRACT DAMS OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE (COMPLETED AND UNDER CONSTRUCTION) STATE-WISE DISTRIBUTION OF LARGE DAMS: - Height 10 to 15 metres. INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION ON LARGE DAMS (ICOLD) SPECIFICATION • A large dam is classified as one with a maximum height of more than 15 metres from its deepest foundation to the crest. • A dam between 10 and 15 metres in height from its deepest foundation is also included in the classification of a large dam provided it complies with one of the following conditions : a) length of crest of the dam is not less than 500 metres or b) capacity of the reservoir formed by the dam is not less than one million cubic metres or c) the maximum flood discharge dealt with by the dam is not less than 2000 cubic metres per second or d) the dam has specially difficult foundation problems, or e) the dam is of unusual design On review of the consideration of “height” for arriving at whether a dam is in the category of large dam or not, the above definition has been retained for dams other than earthen dams. For earthen dams following definition of large dams has been adopted from “IS 12169-1987- criteria for design of small embankment dams” for inclusion under NRLD. "Large Dams : A dam exceeding 15m in height above deepest river bed level and a dam between 10 and 15 m height provided volume of earthwork exceeds 0.75 million cubic meter and storage exceeds 1 million cubic meter or the maximum flood discharge exceeds 2000 cumecs.” Disclaimer National Register of Large Dam (NRLD) is a compilation of the large dams in the country prepared as per information received from the owners of the dams. The sole purpose of the NRLD is to provide basic information about a dam of interest to any interested party who can then approach to the owners of the dams for detailed information if required, under the obligation and procedures applicable to owner of dam and is in no way intended for the purpose other than mentioned above. The information given in NRLD is not binding on any party and does not confer rights or restrictions to any party. CWC would be ever willing to rectify erroneous information if any, brought to its notice. However it is unintentional and therefore need not be taken as a basis of dispute. Patil, Ravindra Teli, Ravi Teja, Rahul Hiremath Abstract— Clean and affordable supply of energy is one of the energy consumption despite the main agenda of goals among the 17 sustainable development goals. In developing development has been abolition of poverty. nations like India the fast development in clean and sustainable Almost Nearly more than 30 crore population in India is energy would allow creating evaluation of the Integrated not having access to electricity and about 50 crores are Sustainable Energy Model scenarios in the context of energy a win-win situation for ensuring the rural energy security, taking root nowadays. The availability of modern energy is mitigating the impact of rising fossil-fuel cost on the economy very much essential for the overall development of society and avoid the negative implications of exhausting natural at all the levels from fulfilling the basic human needs to all resources and ensure the rural energy security. Therefore, there the economic activities of modern society[1], that is why is substantial scope for the exploitation of renewable energy energy is considered as an important link that connects technologies in bridging this gap by providing affordable and society, environment and economic development. [2] Hence clean energy to the poor to meet their lighting, cooking, and thermal needs. The huge potential for the renewable energy access to clean and modern energy is a major driver for the mainly lies in local projects, so there’s need to adopt bottom- human development [3].
