The Committee for Building Maintenance and Demolition at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment issued 150 decisions including 136 for demolition and 14 for main- tenance during third quarter (Q3) of this year. The committee also received 211 requests — 173 for demolition and 38 for maintenance from the munic- ipalities during the period of study. Since its inception, the committee received a total of 1,473 requests for demolition and 452 for maintenance from municipalities. The necessary actions were taken by issuing appropriate decisions fol- lowing Law No. 29 of 2006 for monitoring the buildings. The committee issued 1,227 deci- sions till now. The committee is assigned to conduct study about the conditions of ramshackle buildings or those require maintenance. The job of the committee is to inspect the buildings if it is needed to do so and to take necessary deci- sions in this regards — asking for conducting maintenance or demolition partly or completely.
