TORONTO CACTUS AND SUCCULENT CLUB ANNUAL MESEMB SHOW - SCHEDULE RULES 1. Classes will be open only to members of the Toronto Cactus and Succulent Club. 2. Exhibits must be the property of the exhibitor. 3. There is no limit in the number of exhibits per class or the number of classes which may be entered by any exhibitor. 4. All entries must be received and staged between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. 5. Exhibits are to be placed in the sections specified. An entry card must be placed with each exhibit. 6. Exhibitors are responsible for the correctness of their entry cards. Entry cards will be available when entries are received at the registration desk, or may be obtained earlier from the Show Manager for prior completion. 7. There will be no separate class for grafted plants. They are to be entered in the appropriate generic class for the scion. 8. Only members of the Mesembryanthemaceae family (succulent Aizoaceae) may be entered. 9. Only one plant per pot is allowed in classes 1 through 9. 10. The Show Committee reserves the right to subdivide or combine classes to present reasonably sized groups for judging. Each class so modified will be eligible for awards. 11. Judging will commence at 8:30 p.m. Members are welcome to accompany judges. They may observe judging and can request clarification of a judging point, they may not however engage judges in a discussion of the merits of any exhibit. 12. Points will be awarded on the following basis: Condition: general appearance ............... 50 points evidence of flowering . 10 points freedom from pests and diseases . 10 points Maturity ............................... 10 points Staging ............................... 15 points Rarity in the show .......................... 5 points Page 1 of 2 20160220 13. There will normally be one First, one Second and one Third place ribbon in each class. The judges may, at their discretion, withhold any ribbon in any class where they consider the standard of the exhibits to be too low. “Honourable Mention” ribbons may be awarded at the judge’s discretion. 14. Awards will be made as follows:- The Solent Zone Trophy ..................... most points in Show. Midday Flower Award and “Best Plant” rosette . best plant in Show. “Popular Choice” rosette .................... Show attendees’ popular choice. 15. The decision of the judges shall be final. 16. No entries may be removed from the showroom before 9:30 p.m. unless otherwise sanctioned by the Show Manager. 17. Entry in the show constitutes acceptance of these rules. SCHEDULE Class 1 Argyroderma, Dinteranthus, Lapidaria and Lithops. Class 2 Berrisfordia, Conophytum, Herreanthus, Oophytum and Ophthalmophyllum. Class 3 Fenestraria and Frithia. Class 4 Antegibbaeum, Didymaotis, Dracophilus, Gibbaeum, Imitaria, Juttadinteria, Muiria, Namibia and Psammophora. Class 5 Cheiridopsis, Glottiphyllum, Ihlenfeldtia, Pleiospilos, Schwantesia and Tanquana. Class 6 Chasmatophyllum, Neohenricia, Rhinephyllum and Stomatium. Class 7 Aloinopsis, Deilanthe, Khadia, Nananthus, Prepodesma, Rabiea and Titanopsis. Class 8 Bergeranthus, Bijlia, Carruanthus, Cerochlamys, Faucaria, Machairophyllum and Orthopterum. Class 9 Other genera of Mesembryanthemaceae (succulent Aizoaceae). Class 10 Six seedlings less than 2 years of age. May be in individual pots or grouped in one container.
