The United States Constitution, signed on September 17, 1787, is as great a miracle as the ultimate victory from the British in 1782. Providence prevailed in both. It was a monumental feat to beat the British in the Revolutionary War. Equally as awesome was the accomplishment of finding common ground amongst the varied American beliefs in writing the United States Constitution. Though our forefathers differed, they united in their mission, their vision: A republic; freedom; America, the beautiful; America, the hope.

The United States Constitution was the work of brilliant men with a vast knowledge of history and a thirst for righteousness. They believed that in order for American liberty to survive, her people must be educated. To quote John Adams, "Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people."

Thus, the mission of Constituting America is based upon this principle: America will not and cannot survive unless her citizens, her children, and her students are educated about the validity, necessity and Providential Divinity of the Constitution.

The United States Constitution should not be dismissed or relegated to obsolescence, for as surely as this is done, democracy will meet its demise. Knowledge of the contents of the Constitution and the values of our founding fathers is pivotal to enduring these challenging times.

A renewed, rekindled enthusiasm and a patriot's desire for the understanding of our Constitution begins with its accessibility. Challenging the mindset of those who consider our Constitution to be antiquated is our mission. An enlightened America regarding her roots, her basis, and her thesis is the key to America's pertinent survival. Americans have rights. Americans must have knowledge to understand them.

Constituting America's mission is to reach, educate and inform the youth and all citizens through modern technology and modern means, because we must not let those who devalue freedom dominate the debate.

Our multi-tiered approach features a contest for kids, a school speaking program, academic forums with Constitutional Scholars, and Patriot Clubs. Driven by a core belief that constitutional understanding is critical to retaining our freedom, Constituting America is dedicated to increasing Americans' constitutional literacy. But how do we pass on knowledge about this sacred document in the 21st century?

We cannot reach today's and future generations through traditional means. The Media Outreach Director Maureen Quinn schools are not teaching the Constitution as they used to. And attention spans are shorter. The “screen,” - the computer screen, mobile screen, television screen and movie screen hold a power over Americans' worldview as never before.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

Policies are formulated by a seven member Governing Board of Directors, Board Committees (fundraising, finance, strategic planning) and the Constituting America National Media Director Brandon Vanderford attorney. The Governing Board meets Quarterly.

In this contest, open to students and adults from age 8 to 108, we commission original creations. My father was the most brave, honest, and resilient man I have ever “known. He inspired me to love our country, and be willing to make sacrifices for her. He inspired me to study history, to value lessons learned from both history and great patriots, and to be of service.” - Janine Turner

Since Mr. Gauntt’s passing in 2014, three outstanding student leaders have been awarded the Turner Maurice Gauntt, Jr. Exemplary Citizen Award: Austin Dobbs (currently attending Baylor University), Lexi Lassiter (currently attending the University of Texas at Austin), and Parker Emerich (currently attending Texas A&M).

Named for Janine Turner’s father, Turner Maurice Gauntt, Jr. (1934-2014), this award is bestowed annually upon an outstanding student who embodies the characteristics of loyalty, honesty, wisdom, service, and sacrifice. Mr. Gauntt was born in Athens, Texas. After his impressive high school career, he was appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Mr. Gauntt was commissioned in the Air Force and began his training at Hondo Air Base. While there, he met Janice Agee, whom he married after six weeks in 1957. Upon completion of training, Mr. Gauntt was assigned to the Strategic Air Command, was selected to pilot the revolutionary, delta-winged B-58 Hustler and was a member of the Mach 2 Club – one of the first to fly at twice the speed of sound. Mr. Gauntt received meritorious medals, awards and commendations including the Top Dog Award for fulfilling the mission of the 43rd Bomb Wing, 1963 Award for for Exemplary and Outstanding Performance, serving with honor and distinction in the 98th Bombardment Wing and the same award in 1964 for the 98th Strategic Aeorospace Wing, and the Department of the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service in 1964.

Following his military career, Mr. Gauntt joined Braniff Airlines, ultimately moving into the Captain’s seat until 1982. Continuing his love of flight, he became an instructor with Higher Power Aviation in Grand Prairie Texas until 2012. In addition, he flew for ConocoPhillips in Alaska.

Throughout his life, Mr. Gauntt retained the belief that Americans are blessed. He demonstrated this belief through his willingness to sacrifice, something that recipients of this award exemplify. Mr. Gauntt was the first to write a check to Constituting America in 2010, our founding year. Awarded annually, the Turner Maurice Gauntt, Jr. Exemplary Citizen Award provides winners with a one-time scholarship payment of $4,540 for the recipient to use towards higher education. To broaden the horizons of, and encourage our future leaders/culture creators we arrange annual mentoring trips for contest winners in the middle, high school and college age groups. Winners are paired with industry professionals in their areas of skill to further hone their abilities and make them even more powerful voices in the fight for constitutional awareness.

9 George Washington warned in his Farewell Address that the party system would be the demise of America, because Americans would become more loyal to their party than our country. Janine works to prevent this ominous prediction from coming true, traveling the country as well as connecting with schools, civic organizations and senior centers via Skype & Google Hangout. Janine shares Constituting America's message -- that the U.S. Constitution in a non-partisan document, with audience members ranging from ages 8 – 108.

To ensure that this book landed in the hands – and earned a way into the hearts – of those who really need this it, Constituting America provided over 1,400 books directly to teachers for utilization in the classroom.

This lack of basic Constitution-related knowledge is alarming and, if standardized test scores are any indication, the tide isn't turning on this trend. BUDGET & PLANNING

Every year, Constituting America has responsibly budgeted for Net Assets 2010-2015 programs and events to stay in line with fundraising goals and has ended each with reserve funds in the bank. As of the writing of this report, reserve funds total $150,000. From the time Constituting America was founded through the end of 2015, over $1,590,000 has been raised and $1,512,000 invested on programs and operations. Constituting America has kept expenses well within and below budgeted goals set annually. A monthly and annual ongoing analysis of expenditures is maintained to ensure fiscal targets are met. Annual audits are performed to provide further financial accountability. In support of the 2015 growth year, a board member has generously sponsored a $100,000 loan to Constituting America to allow for expanded programs and to reach a larger audience. The loan terms are very flexible and require no repayment until at 2020 so Constituting America can focus on gaining momentum into the future. Revenue vs. Expense
