Addressing Northern Ireland GIGATEWAY Pointer is the new address database being developed for Northern Ireland with the joint support of Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland (OSNI), the Valuation & Lands Agency (VLA) and Royal Mail. For the first time there will be a common standard address for every property in Northern Ireland. Each property will have a unique reference number and geo-spatial coordinates linking it to OSNI mapping. Pointer will provide an GIgateway® – important tool for private and public sector organisations alike. It will allow quick and accurate sharing and analysis of data and it will support a host of value added applications. The First Year Pointer has been created through a process of complex data matching and intensive Dr Robert Barr, GIgateway® ground validation is now underway across Northern Ireland in order to maximise the Advisory Group member accuracy of the dataset.
