As you will see, there’s no reason to be SCARED OR ANXIOUS, Red Bull games are supposed to be lots of FUN! Keep clicking to find more about what you can expect on AUGUST 28TH AT RED BULL ARENA! AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH GETTING TO THE ARENA: VIA DRIVING If you do, be prepared to sit in some TRAFFIC. Lots of Red Bulls fans will be driving to the game too! Once you get there, you might need to walk across the big, busy parking lot and down the street. BE CAREFUL and keep your eyes up! HOLDING HANDS is a good idea here. AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH GETTING TO THE ARENA: VIA PATH TRAIN Travel to Harrison Station, and remember to “WATCH THE GAP” when you step off the train. Once you get there, you can walk to the stadium. AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH GETTING TO THE ARENA: VIA NJ TRANSIT NEW YORK PENN STATION TO NEWARK “BROAD STREET STATION”: You have the option of taking the Montclair–Booton Line or Morris & Essex Line to Newark Broad Street Station. When taking any of the two lines, get off at Newark Broad Street (second stop from Manhattan) and once off the train, you can take a quick 5 minute ride to Red Bull Arena. VIA NJ TRANSIT NEWARK PENN STATION At Newark Penn Station look for the RAYMOND PLAZA EAST–MARKET STREET exit. The exit is located between the entrances for TRACK A OF THE PATH TRAIN. As you go out this exit, go straight across the street and the pick up location is on MARKET STREET BY MOTHER CABRINI PARK. Once off the train, you can take a quick 5 minute ride to Red Bull Arena. AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH ABOUT THE PATH & PENN STATION This can be a LOUD, CROWDED and BUSY PLACE. If this bothers your ears, BE PREPARED before you get off the train. It’s okay to use earplugs or earphones. Keep your HEAD UP and STAY CLOSE to your family and friends. Look for the door to go downstairs, and exit to the street. There will be plenty of workers directing people towards the arena! AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH RED BULL ARENA HOME OF THE NEW YORK RED BULLS Here’s what Red Bull Arena looks like from the outside. This is where you’ll be spending your fun day with your friends and family on AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH! AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH OUTSIDE RED BULL ARENA BEFORE THE MATCH The Red Bulls have a special outdoor area in front of Red Bull Arena for fun and games called THE BULLEVARD. MUSIC will be playing, but not to loud. There will be LOTS OF PEOPLE so make sure you stay with your group! There will be VIDEO GAMES, SOCCER GAMES AND MUCH MORE! AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH TIME TO GO INSIDE THE ARENA! BEFORE YOU CAN ENTER RED BULL ARENA, YOU’LL NEED TO DO 2 THINGS: 1. GO THROUGH SECURITY AT GATE C1 The gates opens 60 MINUTES BEFORE GAME TIME! The security guard will touch you lightly on your pockets. That’s okay! He/she will also ask to LOOK INSIDE YOUR BAG (if you bring one). No big deal. This will be a lot faster and easier if you are READY for them – watch the person in line in front of you. No Luggage, Computer Bags, Briefcases, Backpacks, Large Purses, Camera Cases, Coolers of any kind, Thermoses or Ice Chests of any size permitted. No bags larger than 4” x 7” permitted. 2. SHOW YOUR TICKET TO THE SECURITY OFFICER There might be a line to get through security. It doesn’t take long. Just try to BE PATIENT and STAY CALM. Fun is just ahead! Now it’s time to go inside! AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH INSIDE RED BULL ARENA BEFORE THE MATCH There will be SIGNS that tell you where to go inside the stadium. You and your family & friends can decide where you want to go first. You’ll be able to SEE THE FIELD from almost anywhere in the arena. So you can walk around and CHECK OUT DIFFERENT SPOTS without missing the game! AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH INSIDE RED BULL ARENA BEFORE THE MATCH SIGHTS: There will be LOTS OF RED BULL FANS at Red Bull Arena! Most of them will be very FRIENDLY, but NOT ALL of them. Even though everyone is rooting for the same team, that doesn’t mean it’s safe to talk to strangers by yourself or walk away from your family and friends. BE CAREFUL! People will be WALKING AROUND before the game buying food and checking out different parts of the arena. You will SEE PEOPLE of all different ages, sizes, shapes, colors and abilities. You DON’T need to ask anyone about how they look. AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH INSIDE RED BULL ARENA BEFORE THE MATCH MORE SIGHTS: Most fans will be wearing the Red Bull’s colors: RED, white and silver. Lots of them will be wearing RED BULLS HATS and SOCCER SHIRTS OR JERSEYS. That’s cool! It’s a way of showing other people they like the Red Bulls! You’ll also notice the huge VIDEO screens at both ends of the arena. It will help you WATCH the game, show INSTANT REPLAYS and know which team is WINNING. AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH INSIDE RED BULL ARENA BEFORE THE MATCH SOUNDS: You’ll here MUSIC playing through the speakers around the stadium. Don’t worry, it WONT’T BE TOO LOUD. You might like some of the songs! The VIDEO SCREENS will also be playing some advertisements – like the ones you see on TV. You will also hear a kind of low murmur of the CROWD. At first it will be quiet, but it will grow LOUDER as more and more fans show up. It’s OKAY to cover your ears when it gets too loud. AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH INSIDE RED BULL ARENA BEFORE THE MATCH SOUNDS: You will also hear AIRPLANES FLYING near the arena. Don’t worry they are not allowed to fly too close to Red Bull Arena during Red Bulls games. You might not see them, but will be able to HEAR them. It’s okay – they’re just taking people to and from Newark Airport – maybe on vacation! AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH INSIDE RED BULL ARENA BEFORE THE MATCH SMELLS: You will smell lots of different FOODS throughout the stadium. Some of them you might like, and some of them you may not. THAT’S OKAY. You can always ask if you can move away from a bad smell. Some of the FOODS you can expect to SMELL are hot dogs, popcorn, pretzels, sausage & peppers, empanadas, nachos and french fries. Before every soccer game, someone always sings our NATIONAL ANTHEM. The announcer will ask everyone to stand up and REMOVE OUR HATS (if you are wearing one). Fans will also hold up their scarves (if they have them). I would change this to say The announcer will ask to everyone to direct their attention to the flag for the singing of the NATIONAL ANTHEM. AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH MATCH TIME KICK OFF! One more thing before the game starts: The announcer introduces the Red Bulls STARTING LINE UP! As the announcer introduces each Red Bulls player, you can follow along on the VIDEO SCREEN and CHEER THEM ON with the crowd! AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH MATCH TIME KICK OFF! When the match starts, the fans will CHEER and SING SONGS for the Red Bulls. This last for most of the game. Feel free to sing along with them! AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH MATCH TIME DURING THE MATCH A soccer game has 2 HALVES: each half lasts about 45 MINUTES. Sometimes a few extra minutes will be added onto each half to make up for pauses in the game. You can CHEER for both teams. But most fans at Red Bull Arena will only be cheering for the RED BULLS! Cheering can be yelling things like, “LETS GO RED BULLS!” and “SHOOT THE BALL!” or just CLAPPING YOUR HANDS. AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH MATCH TIME WHEN FANS CHEER THE LOUDEST GOALS! GREAT PLAYS! PLAYS AROUND THE BOX! CORNER KICKS! AUTISM AWARENESS MATCH GAME TIME DURING THE MATCH The most exciting play – and when Red Bull Arena will be the LOUDEST – might be when the RED BULLS score a GOAL! That means that a Red Bulls player kicks the ball into the opponent’s net.
