Report 1: Cleanliness Rally (15 August 2019)

On the occasion of the Independence Day a rally on cleanliness was organized at S.S. Khanna Girls’ Degree College under the aegis of the Dept. of Education, NSS, Women Cell, Dept of Mathematics, Eco club . Students exhibited the theme of cleanliness through posters and slogans and participated in rally with great enthusiasm. Approximately 500 people including teachers, students and non teaching staff participated in the event.

Report 2: “International Week for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer” 16 September to 23 September 2019

The International Week for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer was organized under the aegis of Certificate course of Environmental Awareness (CCEA-2019) (UGC, CPE-II), S.S. Khanna Girls’ Degree College. A debate competition on the topic “Are aerosol responsible for ozone layer depletion” and poster competition on the theme “How CFCs are Responsible for the Ozone Layer Depletion?” was organized. Dr Anuradha Singh introduced the outline of the theme. The competition was judged by Dr Rita Chauhan, IQAC coordinator. She also delivered a motivational lecture on the theme. Vote of thanks was given by Dr Alok Malviya. In debate competition, eight students of B.Sc, participated and Namra Usmani secured first position and Habiba, Zainab and Kashish secured second position. In poster session 14 posters were presented and Zainab Yaseen secured first position.

Report 4: Participation of CCEA-2019 enrolled students in Poster session of National Seminar

Recent Advances in Chemistry and Its Impact on Society (26-27 November 2019) organized by Department of Chemistry & Allahabad Chapter of Indian Science Congress Association There were total 34 posters presented by UG, PG and B.Ed. students, research scholars and faculty members. Four best posters were selected for award. The posters were evaluated by Prof. H.P.Tiwari (Advisor, Allahabad Chapter of Indian Science Congress Association) and Prof. Vandana Singh (Department of Chemistry, University of Allahabad). The session was managed by Dr. Anuradha Singh, Co convener of seminar.

Report 6: Industrial visit IFFCO, Phulpur Jointly organized by (CCEA-2019) (Under CPE Phase II Scheme of UGC) & Department of Chemistry

Under the aegis of Certificate course in Environmental Awareness (CCEA) (UGC, CPE-II) and Department of Chemistry, S.S. Khanna Girls’ Degree College organized an industrial visit to the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), Phulpur on 21 January 2020. IFFCO has a good brand image and it is a social movement, its main function is to change the lives of farmers while not affecting the environment. The one day visit was organized to give the students a feel of the organization and its working. The trip was inaugurated with the of the Principal Dr Lalima Singh. The 57 students of B.Sc, M.Sc (Chemistry) and students registered under CCEA participated in this educational trip. Dr. H.M Shukla (Manager, Bio-fertilizer unit, IFFCO) welcomed the students. After introduction of the inception of IFFCO, the students were taken to the . They observed the manufacturing process at different stages and interacted with the employees. He described the different activities of Cooperative Rural Development Trust (CORDET) of IFFCO in detail. CORDET is instrumental in demonstrating various farming system models to increase the farm income by organizing various trainings and skill development programs for youth and women. He also explained to students about IFFCO initiative, “Save the Soil Campaign” with focus on soil rejuvenation and crop productivity enhancement for sustainable and environment friendly agriculture. Mr. Birendra Singh, (Junior Assistant, Food processing, IFFCO), briefed the students on crop production system, dairy, balanced fertilization, use of bio-fertilisers, bee-keeping, pisciculture, and fruits and vegetables preservation etc. at Phulpur unit. The students have enjoyed the technical endeavor at IFFCO, and gave very positive feedback. This Visit seems to be very informative and gives good learning experience. The tour was coordinated by Dr Alok Malaviya and Dr Anuradha Singh under the supervision of Dr Archana Jyoti (coordinator of Science Faculty), Dr Sumita Sahgal, Dr. Singh and Dr. Ranjana also participated in the tour. The tour was assisted by Mr Mridul, Mr. Sharad, Mr. Suryamani and Mr Brajesh Kumar.

PROJECT ASSESSMENT WORKSHOP 24.02.2020 and 25.02.2020

Day-One 24.02.2020 Under the aegis of Certificate Course for Environmental Awareness (UGC, CPE-II), S.S. Khanna Girls’ Degree college organized a three days PROJECT ASSESSMENT WORKSHOP on 24 to 26 Febuary 2020. The 36 students of the college participated in this workshop. The workshop was inaugurated with the blessing of the Principal Dr Lalima Singh. She stressed the need for everyone to respect the environment and to upkeep it for the next generations to come. Addressing the gathering on the occasion the Convener of the workshop Dr Anuradha Singh, gave a brief outline about the program “CCEA” and its need to be conducted. The main attraction of the day was the motivational lecture of the ‘Green-man’ Prof. N. B. Singh, Department of Botany, University of Allahabad who was invited as the resource person. He gifted saplings of Indrabala (Murraya paniculata) and Meethi Neem (Murraya koenigii) to students and faculty members and delivered a very illustrative talk on “Environmental Awareness and Motivation- Plant Tree and Save Earth”. He very nicely explained the side effects of plastics on the modern lifestyle. He also correlated ancient environmental values with recent requirements. He emphasized that living in harmony with Nature has been an integral part of Indian culture. This has been abundantly reflected in a variety of traditional practices, religious beliefs, rituals, folklore, arts and crafts, and in the daily lives of the Indian people from time immemorial. Singh (Department of Botany, University of Allahabad) in the botanical garden of SS Khanna Degree College, Prayagraj. Report 8:

National Science Day 28.02.2020 Power-point presentation and brain storming session The students presented their project through power-points, which evaluated by Dr. Archana Jyoti; Co- ordinator of science faculty, Dr. Sumita Sahgal; Department of Chemistry, and Dr. Shubhra Malviya; Department of Zoology. The topic of brain storming session was “Recent scientific advancement and its impact on environment”. The 70 students of the college, participated in this workshop got a certificate for presentation by Prof Lalima Singh (Principal, SSKGDC). Anupama Shukla (B.Ed), Jyoti Keserwani (B.Ed) and Sidra Irsad (MA) were awarded for Best Presentation by the judges.
