Year 11 college applications & career appointments It’s a really busy time for our year 11 students as they prepare for the next steps of their journey after they leave Trinity Academy Cathedral. In the careers department we started career interviews for year 11 students at the beginning of September 2020 and I am pleased to say that the majority of them have now had one. Year 11 students have also been completing college applications. More than ¾ of the year group have now applied with a good number having secured an offer. As always, we are available to assist students whether that be help applying to college or looking for a suitable course / apprenticeship. You know where to find us!! Year 10 career appointments After the Easter break year 10 students will start to have career appointments with Mrs O’Sullivan. This will either be a one to one or group appointment to discuss career ideas and plans with the careers adviser. Whether you are just getting started thinking about your future or have some clear ideas we can help.

Year 10 mock interviews Every year 10 student will be participating in a mock interview this academic year. These will take place at the end of June. More information to follow.

Year 9 Options It is a very exciting time for Year 9 as ‘Options 2021’ has now been launched. The process involves students following different pathways but in the summer term collectively finding out their programme of study for the rest of their time at Trinity Academy Cathedral. Staff are now supporting students to find out as much as they can about all the available courses. After the Easter break, the system opens for students to make their informed choices about what courses are the best options for them. Enrolment information for year 11’s

Barnsley College Enrolment – submit your GCSE/BTEC qualifications If you have accepted a place at Barnsley College you will have already received information on how to do this and the process for enrolling onto your chosen course. You will be contacted by a member of college staff at the arranged time and date to complete your enrolment. Didn’t get the results you wanted? Don’t worry, Barnsley College offer courses at all levels and they are sure to have one to suit you. New College Pontefract Enrolment – Wednesday 26 August and Thursday 27 August 2020. You will receive an enrolment letter with a specified time and date.

Wakefield College Enrolment Enrolment takes place for all courses at either Wakefield City Campus or Campus, including courses based at Thornes Park Campus & Lightwaves. If you haven’t made an application or haven’t received a letter inviting you in to enrol with a time and date, then call 01924 789111 for details of how and when to enrol. If you want to enrol on an apprenticeship, then please call the Apprenticeships Team on 01924 789469. Apprenticeship opportunity at Openreach Openreach are offering a number of apprenticeships in Leeds this year including customer service & call centres. The closing date for this particular vacancy will be 5th April. Level 3 (or equivalent) Apprenticeship programme in Leeds, as an office-based Service Support team member, with some fantastic benefits.

They are planning a virtual open day with two time slots which will be held on Wednesday 7th April – 11am-12pm and 1pm-2pm and you will need to book by e- mailing [email protected] with your name, date and time of the session you would like to attend. The sessions are for one hour and they will include information on their business and roles available as well as supporting with CV and interview preparation which are great things to have when leaving education.
