The heart of the design of WEST's Leading For Impact: A Journey Of Self- Discovery, Career Success, And Community Contribution, has each women STEM professional taking on a nine-month project for either societal or organizational impact. This project will serve as a learning laboratory for developing leadership skills and abilities. Leadership development will be accomplished through designing and implementing the projects, identifying what each participant is learning from their project, the monthly leadership development circle meetings, and by mentoring other women. The structure of the program: Two executive women leaders advise and mentor a group of ten women STEM professionals seeking to develop their leadership skills over nine- months. The circles of twelve meet every month. There will be two different circles of women STEM professionals seeking to develop their leadership skills: Mid-Career Women (8+ years work experience) Early-Career Women (0-7 years work experience) All participants will mentor women that are junior to them in their career. Date: start in September of 2012 and end in June of 2013. STEM women professionals will meet with their circles monthly and with the women they are mentoring monthly as well.
