What we normally see is a lot of speculation about the alleged shooting in December of 1980. Many discrepancies have indeed been found, but I will not repeat them (except for a couple in my endnotes). I find more recent photographic evidence to be far easier and quicker to compile—and more convincing at a glance, as it were—so that is what I will show you here. All this evidence is based on research I did myself. I am not repeating the work of anyone else and I take full responsibility for everything here. If it appeals to you, great. If not, feel free to dismiss it. That is completely up to you, and if you don't agree, fine. When I say “proof” in my title, I mean it is proof enough for me. I no longer have a reasonable doubt. This paper wouldn't have been possible if John had stayed well hidden, but as it turns out he still likes to play in public. Being a bit of an actor, and always being confident is his ability to manipulate the public, John decided to just do what he wanted to do, covering it just enough to fool most people. This he has done, but he hasn't fooled me. The biggest clues come from a little indie film from Toronto about Lennon called Let Him Be,* released in 2009, with clips still up on youtube as of 2014.

In America the actress Tammy Grimes the star of Look After Lulu, High Spirits and Private LivesBhas also graciously accepted our invitation. Both are known Coward devotees and will provide a strong theatrical presence amongst the Society’s Honorary Officers. Penelope Keith is best known in the UK for her television appearances in two of the most successful situation comedies in entertainment history. She made her first mark as the aspiring upper-class neighbour, Margot Ledbetter, in The Good Life and later as the upper-class lady fallen on hard times, Audrey Fforbes-Hamilton, in To The Manor Born. Apart from Star Quality and Blithe Spirit she has appeared on stage at the Chichester Festival in the premiere of Richard Everett’s comedy Entertaining Angels, which she later took on tour. In 2007 she played the part of Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest on tour and is currently appearing in the same role at the Vaudeville Theatre in the West End (booking until 26 April). Her best known theatre appearance was in 1974, playing Sarah in The Norman Conquests opposite her The Good Life co-star Richard Briers.

    Filled with love, war, and intrigue, POSTING LETTERS TO THE MOON makes US premiere at Brits Off Broadway at 59E59 Theaters New York, New York March 18, 2019—59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) is thrilled welcome the US premiere of POSTING LETTERS TO THE MOON, compiled by Lucy Fleming from letters written by Celia Johnson and Peter Fleming, to Brits Off Broadway. Produced by Jermyn Street Theatre in association with Lucy Fleming, POSTING LETTERS TO THE MOON begins performances on Tuesday, May 14 for a limited engagement through Sunday, June 2. Press Opening is Sunday, May 19 at 2:30 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday – Friday at 7:30 PM; Saturday at 2:30 PM & 7:30 PM; and Sunday at 2:30 PM. Fans of Love Letters and Noel Coward will adore these touching wartime letters shared between Coward’s muse, actress Celia Johnson, and Johnson’s adventurer-husband Peter Fleming (brother of James Bond creator Ian) while he was stationed in India. Celia Johnson’s experiences during the war come to vivid life in these touching and amusing letters to her husband. From coping with a large, isolated house full of evacuated children, learning to drive a tractor, dealing with rationing, failing at cooking, and all the while accepting offers to act: in wartime propaganda films, broadcasts, for David Lean and Noel Coward (in This Happy Breed and In Which We Serve), and ultimately, starring in the classic film Brief Encounter.
