Karnataka Associa on Of Professional Social Workers KAPSW has its origin in Indian Associa on of Trained Social Workers ( IATSW ) 1978 and therea er has been restructured and registered in 1997. It represents trained social workers (MSW/BSW graduates) who are working in various fields of social work namely Government departments delivering social services, NGOs, social sectors, in hospitals as counsellors, clinical social workers and in industries performing welfare and human resources func ons. KAPSW has been networking with social work ins tu ons and NGOs and has been regularly organizing knowledge sharing sessions, workshops and seminars with an objec ve of sharing knowledge, work experience, case studies and best prac ces that help the members and students of social work. The associa on also helps ini ate social projects and one of the recent ini a ves has been to network with few social work ins tu ons to iden fy, train and build a network of support persons who can help vic ms of child abuse and their families . The associa on has also been organizing na onal level conferences periodically to bring academicians, prac oners, students and policy makers together on same pla orm to share knowledge and experiences on policies, programmes, ini a ves, case studies and best prac ces and also to network and collaborate.
Department of Social Work, Christ University The vision of the Department of Social Work at Christ University, which is celebra ng its tenth year, is `Excellence in social work educa on through service and research'. Having taken up a mission of `Fostering growth of social work professionals with global perspec ves', the department has been in pursuit of excellence in academic as well as professional training of aspiring social work professionals.
