Ben presto la collisione tra la tensione interna all'Artemis e quella sulle strade di Los Angeles porterà a una escalation di violenza. Ci sono film che evidenziano sin da subito la propria travagliata genesi: è il caso di 'Hotel Artemis', con una sceneggiatura che viene da molto lontano e una produzione che evidenzia qualche gap di troppo tra ambizioni e budget. Il risultato è che le idee migliori di Drew Pearce - ricercatissimo sceneggiatore di Hollywood, con all'attivo titoli come 'Iron Man 3' e 'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation' - sono nel frattempo già state riproposte o inconsapevolmente fagocitate in altri titoli di genere. Come la fortunatissima saga di 'John Wick', ad esempio, costruita attorno all'hotel Continental e alle sue regole, straordinariamente simili a quelle di 'Hotel Artemis'.
