Joburg Municipality warns residents to make sure to store sufficient water this weekend

Water supplies to some , and surrounding areas will be disrupted and residents have been warned to store enough water for usage this weekend while renovations are being implemented to the Rand Water main water supply pump station in Eikenhof.

The city’s water and sanitation service provider, Johannesburg Water, would like to inform residents about a planned water disruption that will affect a number of areas in the Johannesburg region from 2pm on 7 February until 3pm on 8 February 2015.

The interruption is to allow Rand Water to do maintenance at the Eikenhof pump station located in Johannesburg South. “Please note the water supply disruption is expected to last 25 hours. Rand Water will continue to supply water into our system at a reduced capacity but there might be poor pressures and no water supply experienced in those areas during this service interruption,” it said in a statement.

Johannesburg Water said there will be tanks provided at the hospitals listed below.

Suburbs that will be affected in the / area: Bergbron, Claremont, Delarey, Whiteridge, Roodekrans (all ext), Wilropark (all ext), Helderkruin (all ext), Constantia Kloof (all ext), Allens Nek (all ext), Weltevreden (all ext), Florida Hills, Florida North, Discovery (all ext), Selwyn, Florida Township, Horison, Horison View, Roodepoort North, Florida Park (all ext), Constantia Park, Honeydew (all ext), , Laserpark, Randparkridge, Cosmo City, Lanseria and Thabo Mbeki Informal settlement.

Also included are Olivedale, Sundowner, Northwold, Boskruin, Bromhof, Kya Sands, Bloubosrand, Eagle Canyon, Honeydew View, Poortview, Ruimsig, Wilgeheuwel, Princess, Grobler Park (all ext), Lindhaven, Little Falls, Harveston and parts of Northriding.

In the Langlaagte/Southdale area, places to be affected are Mondeor, Southgate, Meredale, Alan Manor, Eagles Nest, Southfork, Kibler Heights, Eikenhof, Lougherin A.H, Coronationville, Westbury, Claremont, Triomf, Westdene, Newlands, Greymont and Albertskroon.

More affected areas will be Albertsville Industria, Bosmont, Riverlea, Longdale, Vrededorp, Fordsburg, Brixton, Mayfair, Cottesloe, Janhofmeyer, Rossmore, Hursthill, Montclare, Melville, Emmerentia, , Greenside, Westcliff, Parkview, Fairlands, Berario and (all extensions).

Soweto areas affected are Pimville, Power Park, , Orlando East, Orlando West, Dobsonville, Naturena Klipspruit, Meadowlands, Comptonville, Meredale, Moroka, Jabavu, Molapo, Jabulani, Tladi, Moletsane, Mofolo South, Mapetla, Zola, Zondi, Naledi and all extensions, Emdeni, Mofolo north, Mofolo central, parts of Dube, Chiawelo and extensions, Protea North, Protea South, Dhlamini and all extensions, Eldoradopark and all extensions, Klipspruit west and Klipspruit and Protea Glen (all ext).

Hospitals to be affected are Wilgeheuwel, Flora Clinic, Olivedale, Helen Joseph, Crescent Clinic, Garden City, Rahima Moosa, Baragwanath, Tshepo Themba and Lesedi Clinic.
