1. In response to the MI Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) guidance for employers, the Township Administration Building is currently limited to visits by appointment only. Therefore a copy of your responses to this questionnaire can only be returned by mail or dropped off in the outside drop box.

a. Due to alternate staffing levels and anticipated delays in the postal service the deadline to return the completed selection questionnaire has been extended. The questionnaires must now be received by the Human Resources Department no later than 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2020.

b. Options available to return completed questionnaire:

i. Via Postal Mail ‐ Return completed questionnaires to: Canton Township Attention: Human Resources 1150 Canton Center Road Canton, MI 48188 ii. Applicants choosing to mail their questionnaire should be conscious of postal delivery times.

iii. Questionnaires received in the mail after the extended deadline date will not be considered.

iv. Candidates may also submit their completed Selection Questionnaire using the Bill Payments Drop Box located near the main entrance of the Administration Building. Applicants choosing the Drop Box method of delivery should send an email to jobs@canton‐mi.org to confirm the questionnaire was received. Due to alternate staffing – it may take three business days to receive a response. The bill pay drop box located near the front of the building is open 24/7.

v. Faxed or e‐mailed questionnaires will not be accepted.

2. This questionnaire has 31 questions.

i. Inaccurate or incomplete questionnaires will result in the removal from the hiring process.

3. Your completed questionnaire will be reviewed with your completed employment application form. a. The basis of candidates selected for further testing will be the ability to meet minimum qualifications, as demonstrated through the employment application and questionnaire. b. Relevant education, experience, work history and the quality and professionalism of responses to the questionnaire will be considered when determining which qualified applicants will be scheduled for the written examination. c. Preference will be given to candidates that have verifiable clerical work experience in an office setting. d. Based on the number of completed selection questionnaires received by the posted deadline, additional screening criteria may be added to assist in the selection process. e. Candidates who successfully complete the selection questionnaire and who are selected to advance to the next step in the hiring process will be scheduled to take a 100 question timed competency clerical written exam.

The test date will be postponed until the Township Administration Building reopens to the Public. Human Resources will notify candidates as information on the revised test date becomes available

This will be a general competency clerical examination. There is no designated study guide for this general aptitude test.

The 20 highest scoring candidates obtaining a minimum of score of 80% or better on the written exam will qualify to move onto the next step in the hiring process.

Candidates must score within the top 20 highest scores and obtain at least 80% on the written exam to be considered further.

The top 20 highest scoring candidates on the written examination who score 80% or better will be scheduled to take A Word and Excel assessment tests which will rate the user’s proficiency in 2010 or higher, 2010 or higher, and other areas that are relevant to the Continuing Part‐time Clerk position.

i. Demonstrated proficiency in 2010 or higher and keyboarding will be determined through timed assessment tests. ii. The computerized testing will be done in a group setting. iii. A minimum of 40 words per minute is required to pass the timed typing test. iv. A minimum of 6,000 keystrokes per hour is required to pass the data entry portion of the typing assessment. v. A minimum score of 80% is needed on both the Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word Computerized Assessments. vi. Candidates that pass all four assessments will be scheduled for the oral interview.

4. Oral Interviews will be rescheduled once the Administration Building resumes normal or scheduled hours of operation.

Questionnaires must be returned by mail or by using the drop box. Questionnaires received after the deadline date will not be considered.

In determining qualified applicants for the clerical assessment tests, relevant clerical experience and the quality and professionalism of the questionnaire will be considered.
