Dragonfly 2020 Goes Virtual

Drexel University student organization, University Concert Board, has announced that the college’s annual concert, Dragonfly, will be held virtually this year. Dragonfly is a highly attended event featuring award-winning artists and performers. Dragonfly 2020 will feature a lineup of six shows to be streamed virtually for students. The first show is available to stream on Wednesday, October 7 at 9:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. Tickets are free for Drexel students and can be reserved online on the Dragonfly website.

University Concert Board (UCB) revealed a six-part concert and comedy virtual series in place of their usual in-person show. General Director of UCB, Maxwell Nash, says, “At first we were thinking, you know, a three-hour-long concert on a stream is a little bit harder to watch than being in a place for three hours. We thought, ‘Hey, maybe we’ll actually split this up into a few different concerts.’” University Concert Board is looking forward to the multi-show event, showcasing artists and performers to suit multiple genres of interest. Dragonfly 2020 kicks off on

Wednesday, October 7 with a performance by Cheat Codes, a Los Angeles-based EDM trio.

Each week, another performer takes the virtual stage: Rico Nasty, a rapper from Maryland whose style is best described as “sugar trap,” indie-pop all-female quartet The Aces, Emmy Award- winning personality Jonathan Van Ness, comedian and impressionist Chloe Fineman, and a mystery headliner to be announced at a later date. “Because we’re able to bring in six different artists, we’re able to cater to a lot of different music genres that people like,” says Marketing

Director, Atoosa Scheuer.

University Concert Board is a student organization at Drexel University that is responsible for planning Dragonfly every year. Members of UCB are chosen from two other student organizations, Dragon Concert Series and Campus Activities Board. Students from both organizations come together annually to plan this exciting event.

Drexel students may reserve their ticket online using their Drexel email. The ticket will allow them access to a private streaming room on Looped, a virtual streaming service where they will be able to watch each performance. Unfortunately, due to the nature of funding for student organizations for Fall 2020, Dragonfly is unable to allow non-Drexel students or alumni to reserve a ticket. The full schedule of events, all information, and the ticket reservation link can be found on Dragonfly’s Instagram, @drexeldragonfly, or on their website, www.drexeldragonfly.com.
