General An International Adult Figure Skating Competition will be held in Vancouver, Canada (Canlan Ice Sports Burnaby 8-Rinks) from 10th -13th October, 2018. This competition will be held under the authorization and support of the International Skating Union. FIGURE SKATING PROGRAMS OVERVIEW Skaters may choose the STARSkate Program, learning core figure skating skills and taking tests at organized test sessions. STARSkaters may also choose to enter competitions (known as non- qualifying events). Other skaters may wish to enter the Skate Canada Competitive Program, try their hand at synchronized skating or participate as an adult figure skating member. (1) STARSKATE PROGRAM: The Skate Canada STARSkate Program offers opportunities for skaters to develop basic to advanced skating skills in four different areas: Interpretive, Dance, Free Skating, and Skating Skills which are then grouped into the following levels: PRIMARY LEVEL TESTS • Skating Skills: Preliminary, Junior Bronze • Free Skating: Preliminary, Junior Bronze • Dance: Preliminary, Junior Bronze • Interpretive: Introductory INTERMEDIATE LEVEL TESTS • Skating Skills: Senior Bronze, Junior Silver • Free Skating: Senior Bronze, Junior Silver • Dance: Senior Bronze, Junior Silver • Interpretive: Bronze SENIOR LEVEL TESTS • Skating Skills: Senior Silver, Gold • Free Skating: Senior Silver, Gold • Dance: Senior Silver, Gold, Diamond • Interpretive: Silver, Gold ORDER OF TESTS - A candidate for a test must have passed all of the preceding tests in the same category in each of the disciplines. For example, a skater must pass the Preliminary Skating Skills test prior to attempting the Junior Bronze Skating Skills test. There are two exceptions. Free Skate tests can be taken in parts (elements and program). For example, a skater must pass Junior Bronze elements part in order to progress to the Senior Bronze elements. This skater is not required to pass 1 the equivalent program portion to progress. Also, in the Competitive Test Program, skaters can begin testing at any level.

Nominating Committee Candidate Bios and Statements of Purpose Lainie DeMore – Midwestern and First Vice President: Bio: Lainie DeMore started skating as a toddler and continued to skate through high school. She summer skated in Lake Placid, NY for four summers passing her 7th Figure Test and Pre-Gold dances before she stopped actively skating. Returning to the skating community after college and graduate school, she became a National Accountant and a Level 3 Technical Accountant. She has officiated at numerous qualifying and international competitions and was the Chief Accountant for the 2000 U.S. Championships in her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. In the Cleveland area, Lainie has served on the Board of the Winterhurst Figure Skating Club as well as Chair of the Greater Cleveland Council of Figure Skating Clubs. Previously, she served as an At-Large Board Member of U. S. Figure Skating, on various committees and as Membership Development Group Coordinator. She is completing her third year as Midwestern Vice President. Lainie is married to Harry Gleeson (USFS Announcer), whom she met at a figure skating competition. Prior to her retirement, she worked in the non-profit sector as the Information Technology manager at a multi-theatre entertainment complex in downtown Cleveland and as a project manager in the Information Technology area for a large multi-state financial institution. Statement of Purpose: It is an honor to be asked to continue to serve as Midwest and First Vice President. Communication to clubs and members as well as listening to their concerns is of highest importance. It’s critical that we maintain strong, healthy and sustainable clubs to attract and retain our membership.

Nominating Committee Committee Chair Bios and Statements of Purpose Adult Skating – Aviva Cantor Bio: As a pigeon-toed four-year-old, Aviva’s orthopedic doctor recommended skating lessons for therapeutic reasons. What was meant to be a short-lived hobby became a lifelong passion, as Aviva has now been skating regularly and competitively for nearly 29 years. As a lifetime skater who never took breaks throughout childhood, college or adulthood, it is Aviva’s goal to encourage other skaters to also pursue longevity in the sport. Aviva has competed at the U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships six times (seven as of 2020), National Showcase two times (three as of 2020), and Midwestern Adult Sectionals twice. She has passed intermediate moves in the field, adult gold free skate, pre-silver partnered dance and novice solo free dance. She is currently working on novice moves in the field and silver partnered dance. Named “Miss Congeniality” by her adult gold competitors, Aviva’s mantra is: “be serious about your skating, but don’t take yourself too seriously.” Aviva embodies this advice through her entertaining, character-based showcase programs. She also has a strong interest in choreography, music editing and costume design. Aviva’s mother, Janice, is also an adult skater. Janice began skating at the age of 44 with aspirations to learn a crossover. Recently, she passed two silver partnered dances at the age of 71. It is Aviva’s goal to be an advocate for adult skaters in the United States by representing “class I” adult skaters like herself, “class V” adult skaters like her mother and absolutely everyone in between.
