Global warming causes not only droughts, but also flooding. Scientists at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute have found that a 1°C rise in temperature will increase the intensity of heavy rainfall in Europe by 10-15%.

There is virtually no driving situation that worries motorists more than unexpected aquaplaning, because heavy rainfall means an increased risk of losing contact with the road, and accidents occurring as a result. This is why, particularly in the wet, the majority of motorists in Europe expect top performance from their tyres. Our Uniroyal tyres have been developed to meet precisely this requirement.

1868 Oscar Englebert opens a shop selling rubber products in Liège (Belgium). 1912 As well as raincoats, rubber aprons and tubes, car tyres become increasingly important (Englebert tyres have a zigzag tread pattern to prevent skidding). 1926 Englebert is one of Europe„s five biggest companies working in the rubber processing industry. 1969 The rallye 180 is launched as the world„s first ever rain tyre. „Auto, Motor und Sport„ declares the new rallye 180 the absolute test winner. 1979 Continental takes over the European section of the Uniroyal Group 2001 Launch of the rallye 680. 2004 Launch of the rallye 550. 2007 Since the launch of the rallye 550 and 680, over 20 million of these tyres have been sold in Europe. 2009 The success story of the rallye tyre family leads to the new RainExpert. The first rallye came on to the market back in 1969 and was an immediate success as the first rain tyre ever.

This success story has continued over the years. After the launch of the rallye 680 and rallye 550, over 20 million of these tyres were sold worldwide.

The new RainExpert is based on this success story. From 2009, this tyre will be available in two different tread pattern options with three or four circumferential grooves, depending on the tyre size.

The S-TWI indicates that the remaining tread depth is 3mm.

In general, we expressly recommend changing the tyres when the tread depth has reached 3mm at the latest, to ensure continued safety in the wet.

If the tyre is worn down to the S-TWI, this is a clear sign that it is time to change the tyres. Marketing highlights Visual Alignment Indicator (VAI)

VAIs indicate uneven wear on the tyre.

If the VAI umbrellas on the inner and outer side of the tyre are unevenly worn, this indicates poor track and camber alignment on the car.
