  • Events Second Civil War: a Period of War Between the Two American Factions; the Conservatives and the Liberals
TheEvents Second Civil War: A period of war between the two American factions; the Conservatives and the Liberals. The war began in the year 2024 and ended with the signing of the North America Cease in Hostility Treaty in the year 2029; which is what created the two separate American nations we have today. The Third Civil War: A small inflammation of unresolved differences between the two American nations that lasted less than a year, brought on by the Conservatives bombing of the Liberals embassy in Venezuela; which caused the deaths of several hundred embassy workers; military personnel; ambassadors; and even more specifically; refugees, who had come to the embassy to seek safe haven from the Conservatives who had been hell-bent on eradicating their entire people from the planet. The Third Civil War ended in year 2063. Saxton Uprising: An event, sparked, in part, by the death of David Saxton, a convicted pedophile who was murdered while serving his prison sentence; and who was the father of Jennifer Saxton, the child whose speech (in)directly instigated the Saxton Uprising. The uprising was brought on by the government’s violation of the Liberal Nations Constitution and their imposing of secret “morality laws”. When the final arrests of the former government were made, the number of Liberal citizens which had come to the capital to be a part of the uprising movement, in the end, numbered well over twenty-two million Liberal Nation citizens. Nuclear Attack on Vatican City: In the year 2017, a small yield nuclear device was exploded inside the walls of Vatican City destroying the largest collection of religious artifacts in world history; it also caused the deaths of an estimated 140,000 Catholics including the recently ordained Pope John Augustine.

  • Crowdsourcing Just Punishment for Julian Assange
Crowdsourcing Just Punishment for Julian Assange Alternative view of segmented documents via Kairos 20 January 2020 | Draft Crowdsourcing Just Punishment for Julian Assange In faithful Christian retribution for daring to speak truth to power -- / -- Introduction Perverse complicity in Christian celebration of pain? Futility of highlighting denial of Christian complicity in torture Promotion of enhanced torture on behalf of the American people Crowdsourcing appropriate punishment for enemies of the American people WikiJustice, WikiRetribution, WikiPunition, or WikiSalvation -- for Assange? Types of torture variously used by Christians and applicable to Assange Hanging, drawing and quartering as symbolic of Christian retribution? Christian complicity in distortion of the truth symbolized by Cross Religious enactment of the suffering and torture of Assange Whistleblowing as a "crime of passion" -- for the truth? References In anticipation of the dramatic outcome of the Trial of Julian Assange (2019) Introduction In a period of so-called just war, within which forms of "just torture" are increasingly evident, the concern in what follows is how best to reflect the highest democratic principles in those countries most inspired by the highest Christian values -- and most implicated in the outcome of the trial of Julian Assange for having spoken truth to power. Those democratic principles now suggest that any consideration of the appropriate punishment of Assange, following his anticipated trial in the USA, should be decided by the American people as a whole -- employing the latest crowdsourcing processes and technology, now so widely available. As a country founded by Christians and primarily inspired by Christian values -- so fundamental to the sworn testimony in court proceedings -- it is especially appropriate to seek inspiration from the forms of retribution with which Christian authorities have been traditionally associated in the USA, and most notably from the time of the Founding Fathers.

MASARYKOVA UNIVERZITA PEDAGOGICKÁ FAKULTA Katedra anglického jazyka a literatury ZÁVĚREČNÁ PRÁCE Brno 2019 Mgr. Adriana Bolhová Masaryk University Faculty of Education Department of English Language and Literature The most controversial aspects of female body Final Work Mgr. Adriana Bolhová Supervisor: Mgr. Lucie Podroužková, Ph.D. Brno 2019 Abstract This final thesis focuses on the feminist and socio-cultural interpretation of three of the most controversial aspects of female body; menstruation, hairy female body, and vagina. Through poems in collection milk and honey written by the Indian-born Canadian author, Rupi Kaur and critical sources the thesis reflects past and recent discussions addressed to these topics. Moreover, this thesis argues that Rupi Kaur addresses the castigated functions of female body showing openly how the modern world perceives contemporary women who struggle with self-acceptance. The theoretical part shortly introduces the author and her collection while the analytical part focuses on studies of perception of menstruation, female body hair, and female genitals in Rupi Kaur’s poems supported by the secondary readings. Finally, this thesis presents the importance of the role of female artists and their view of female genitals. Keywords: Rupi Kaur, milk and honey, female body, menstruation, domination, the hairless female body, abuse, vagina Anotácia Táto záverečná práca sa zameriava na feministickú a sociálno kutlúrnu analýzu troch najviac kontroverzných aspektov ženského tela; menštruácii, ochlpenia ženského tela a vagíny. Prostredníctvom basní v zbierke mlieko a med, od rodenej Indky a Kanadskej autorky, Rupi Kaur a kritických zdrojov táto práca zachytáva minulé a súčasné názory adresované týmto témam. Okrem toho táto práca argumentuje, že Rupi Kaur poukazuje na kritizované funkcie ženského tela kde otvorene ukazuje ako moderný svet vníma súčasné ženy, ktoré zápasia so sebaakceptovaním.

  • Boys Will Be Boys
PRAISE FOR BOYS WILL BE BOYS ‘A damning look at toxic masculinity. It’s the most important thing you’ll read this year.’ Elle Australia ‘Boys Will Be Boys is a timely contribution to feminist literature. Her central point is clear and confronting, and it represents something of a challenge… Ferocious, incisive, an effective treatise.’ Australian Book Review ‘A piercing gaze at contemporary patriarchy, gendered oppression and toxic masculinity.’ Sydney Morning Herald ‘A truly vital piece of social commentary from Australia’s fiercest feminist, Boys Will Be Boys should be shoved into the hands of every person you know. Clementine Ford has done her research—despite what her angry detractors would have you believe—and spits truths about toxic masculinity and the dangers of the patriarchy with passion and a wonderfully wry sense of humour. Read it, learn from it, and share it—this book is absolute GOLD!’ AU Review, 16 Best Books of 2018 ‘Boys Will Be Boys is an impassioned call for societal change from a writer who has become a stand-out voice of her generation (and has the trolls to prove it) and an act of devotion from a mother to her son.’ Readings ‘With pithy jokes and witty commentary, this is an engrossing read, and Ford’s spirited tone evokes passion for change.’ Foreword Reviews ‘Clementine Ford reveals the fragility behind “toxic masculinity” in Boys Will Be Boys.’ The Conversation ‘Boys Will Be Boys highlights the need to refocus on how we’re raising our boys to be better men. The ingrained toxic masculinity within society does just as much damage to our boys as it does to our girls, and this book highlights how to change that.’ Fernwood Magazine PRAISE FOR FIGHT LIKE A GIRL ‘Her brilliant book could light a fire with its fury.

  • Representations of the Self and Other in Torture Museums in Germany
Coloniality of knowledge and Torture: Representations of the Self and Other in Torture Museums in Germany Beatriz Junqueira Lage Carbone1 Abstract: Reports about the use of torture in some Latin American countries have been studied by scholars of human rights, as well as activists who, especially since the 1970s, seek to draw attention to the employment of torture2, in both the Global North and Global South. Newspaper articles, TV documentaries, Internet content produced by NGOs, and even first-hand contact with activists from Latin America compete in supplying the imagination of European people with images on this matter. The field of memory and history of torture and cruel punishment is not free from the epistemic divisions that characterize the issue. In some museums dedicated to the theme of medieval torture in Germany, torture (as part of the legal systems and Inquisition in Europe during the Middle Ages and early modernity) is brought into context with violations perpetrated in the recent past in Latin America. This is done either through the association of medieval torture devices to human rights abuses perpetrated by the police in Latin America and in other parts of the Global South; as well as by bringing together a small campaign of Amnesty international against human rights violations in the Global South as part of an exhibition showcasing torture in the Middle Ages. In this article, I analyze the ideas behind the association between Europe's past and Latin America’s current struggles against torture in the exhibitions of two museums in 1 Beatriz Junqueira Lage Carbone is a Ph.D.

Signed by the final Examining Committee: ______________________________ TBA, Chair ______________________________ Manish Sharma, Examiner ______________________________ Stephanie Bolster, Examiner ______________________________ Mary di Michele, Supervisor Approved by ____________________________________________________ Jill Didur, Chair of Department ___________2015 _____________________ André Roy, Dean of Faculty Abstract Outposts of Conscience: Torture and the Poetry of Resistance Niki Lambros Preceded by an introduction giving background information on the factual context of this work, my own background in Christianity and ethics, and the methodology behind the poetry, this thesis contains sixteen original poems on the subject of torture and the history of torture in the contexts of war and martyrdom. A selected bibliography of sources from books, newspapers and videos follows the text and provides evidence of the veracity of my poeticized accounts where applicable. Christian martyrdom affords a context for the glorification of human cruelty as much as jihad has been used for this purpose in the Muslim world. Conceptual doctrines such as the “war on terror” seek to justify the use of torture.

  • The Digital Story Innovations Team: a Case Study on Digital Journalism Innovation at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation
The Digital Story Innovations team: A case study on digital journalism innovation at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Master’s thesis Journalism and Media University of Amsterdam Anna Livia Céline Benders UvA-net ID: 10088121 Thesis coordinator: dhr. prof. dr. M.J.P. (Mark) Deuze June 18th, 2018 Preface I woke up at 4 this morning, because the air was vibrating. I am buzzing with the energy of new possibilities that lie ahead. My stomach is aching from excitement about a future that has never felt as unknown as in this very moment. And from the pure joy to end a chapter and to, for the first time in months, write something non-academic. No literature, no referencing, just words. The story about how this thesis came about is a classic tale of a series of events and meetings leading up to what I hope will result in my graduation today. In October 2014 I boarded an airplane to Perth. It was a one-way ticket. I knew no one and I had no plan. Upon arrival, someone I had met only once a few years earlier, who happened to be from Perth, wrote me that I should go meet his 60 year old dad. I had no particular intention of spending my days hanging with a relative strangers’ father, but was so surprised by the Australian hospitality that I decided I was going to be a yes-woman. I ended up spending an entire month at Bryan Bourke’s house in Claremont. We went for early morning swims in the ocean, ate Thai food and he helped me pick out a car that later became my (temporary) house.
