ABOUT THE ARTISTS Violist RICHARD YONGJAE O’NEILL, EMMY® Award winner, two-time GRAMMY® nominee and Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, has appeared as soloist with the London, Los Angeles and Seoul Philharmonics; BBC, KBS and Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra; and the Wurttemburg, Vienna and Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestras. Highlights of this season include the premiering John Harbison’s Viola Sonata written for him and Molly Morkowski, serving as Artist-In- Residence at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica and celebrating his fifteen-year anniversary of concerts in Korea with a special appearance of the Ehnes Quartet at Seoul Arts Center. A recording artist with UNIVERSAL/Deutsche Grammophon, he has made nine solo albums that have sold over 200,000 copies. He is a member of the Society of Lincoln Center, Camerata Pacifica and the Ehnes Quartet. Composers Lera Auerbach, Elliott Carter, John Harbison, Huang Ruo and Paul Chihara have written and dedicated works to him. His chamber music project DITTO has introduced tens of thousands to chamber music in South Korea and Japan. The first violist to receive the Artist Diploma from The , he was honored with a Proclamation from the Council. He serves as Goodwill Ambassador for the Korean Red Cross, CARE and UNICEF, and he runs marathons for charity.

Taiwanese American pianist STEVEN LIN’s artistry was clear from an early age when he was accepted by the Juilliard School on a full scholarship at the age of 10. This in turn led to his debut with the in Avery Fisher Hall when he was only 13. Steven’s broad musical interests allow him to move with ease between concertos, recitals and chamber music, enjoying international appearances at important venues, such as the Louvre and Salle Cortot in France, National Dublin Hall in Ireland, Seoul Arts Center in Korea and Sendai Cultural Center in Japan. Recent recital debuts include those at both the Zankel and Weill Recital halls in , as well as the Kennedy Center, Gilmore Rising Stars series, Wallis Annenberg Performing Arts Center in Beverly Hills and National Chopin Foundation. Recent performances abroad include a solo recital tour of Taiwan and four recitals in China, as well as concerts with the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonietta Beer Sheva, the Costa Rica National Symphony, Finca World Piano Festival in the Canary Islands, a recital tour of Japan and other performances in Asia with the DITTO Ensemble. He has appeared on radio broadcasts, including NPR’s From the Top and WQXR’s Young Artists Showcase, and he is featured prominently in the Cliburn Competition documentary film, Virtuosity, which premiered on PBS in 2015. Among the honors Lin has received are the John Giordano Jury Chairman Discretionary Award at the 2013 Van Cliburn Piano Competition and the Silver Medal at the Arthur Rubinstein Piano Competition in 2014. He recently completed the prestigious performance diploma program at Curtis Institute of Music, and before that he earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree at Juilliard.
