Under a New Sun A Simon Lee Dicker, Megan Calver, Angela Charles, Michael Fairfax, Lucia Harley, Simon Hitchens, Luke Paramore, Tasha Stevens An exhibition of new work showing the range of creative talent at work in Somerset today, at two venues: Lanes Hotel and the Old School Room . The exhibition’s title Under a new Sun relates to the Anglo-Saxon naming of Somerset - Sumorsaete - as ‘the people of the summer lands’, when farmers would bring their livestock down to the peat rich levels to graze, only to retreat to the hills during the flooded winter months. Although still a predominantly rural county, with flooding and extreme weather high in the public consciousness, this exhibition reveals how contemporary artists make connections with, and are connected to, the world around us now.

About Konvertible Join Konvertible! Konvertible is a design initiative of artist Lisa Cheung (based in London, UK & Granada, Workshops will take place Spain) and designer Sammy Delgado Escobar (based in Madrid, Spain). The initiative 17th to 25th September invites a range of participants (amateurs to professionals) to collaborate to produce high quality, interesting objects that combine traditional craft skills, digital technologies and low-cost materials. The result will be a set of limited edition objects that are affordable but still designed and made locally by individuals. Instead of one fixed workshop location, Konvertible travels to different places. Previous projects had been sited in Bedford Creative Arts (Bedford, 2010-ongoing), Casa Paraollells, Feria de Diseno (Madrid, 2011), Juanchaco-Ladrilleros (Pacifico, Colombia) and Children Garden City Cordaba (Kali, Colombia).
