Selected Academic Projects

Memetic Algorithm for Vehicle Routing Problem • Implemented a population-based algorithm enhanced with edge assembly crossover and local search for capacitated vehicle routing problem.

Detection of Anomalous Co-Occurrences • Implemented and evaluated variational expectation maximization algorithm for detecting anomalous co-occurrences using a limited number of training observations. • Proposed an approach based on Markov random field and tested on Enron dataset.

Receding Horizon Rank Minimization in Visual Tracking • Designed and implemented receding horizon rank minimization and convex relaxation based algorithms for video tracklets stitching and motion prediction without identifying the unknown dynamics.

Image and Video Inpainting • Implemented spatio-temporal synthesis scheme based algorithms for inpainting missing regions in images, and extended the algorithms for video sequences.

Temporal Video Segmentation • Designed and implemented algorithms for automatic detection of video cut and insertion of transition effects using color histogram comparison, edge detection and tracking, and image comparison with motion compensation. • Proposed an approach based on Markov random field and tested on Enron dataset.

Crab Counter • Developed algorithms for object (crab) detection from video sequences based on adaptive background subtraction.

R&D Imaging Engineer Intern (Jun 2011 – Sep 2011) • Implemented, optimized and evaluated a wavelet-based denoising algorithm for low-dose X-ray medical imaging on CUDA GPU.
