FLYERS PRESEASON GAME NOTES – SEPTEMBER 21 VS.

• The Flyers play the second game of their preseason tonight as they complete a home-and-home set against the . The Flyers opened their training camp on Saturday morning at The Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, with 70 players participating in workouts.

• Fifteen prospects were released from camp on Monday for the purpose of returning them to their junior teams. Fifty-five players remain in training camp as the exhibition slate opens.

• Prior to main camp, 28 Flyers prospects gathered for a three-day “rookie” camp in Voorhees. This camp culminated in a 3-1 win over the rookie camp participants before an estimated crowd of 11,000 at the Wells Fargo Center.

• The Flyers jump right into their exhibition schedule with four games over the next four nights. After tonight’s completion of the home-and-home with Toronto, the Flyers will head to their sister facility, the John Labatt in London, , where they will be the home team tomorrow night against the Red Wings. The JLC is run by Global , which is also owned by the Flyers’ parent company, -Spectacor. The four-in-four set closes on Friday with a game at .

• Following a weekend of practice, the Flyers wrap up their exhibition schedule with three games next week – Sept. 26 vs. the NY Rangers and a home-and-home with the New on September 29 in Philadelphia and October 1 in Newark.

• The Flyers will open their 2011-12 schedule on the road, providing the opposition on the night the Bruins raise their 2011 banner in a nationally-televised game on October 6. They’ll then travel on to Newark to play the Devils on October 8 before coming home to open their home slate on Wednesday, October 12 against the Canucks.

• Tonight’s game is the second of four televised preseason games in the Philadelphia area. The Comcast Network will also televise Monday’s game against the Rangers, and the September 29 game against New Jersey will be carried on Comcast . Philadelphiaflyers.com will feature a video webcast of the three other non-televised preseason games – Thursday at London, Friday at Detroit and Oct. 1 at New Jersey. Additionally, all seven preseason games will be aired on the radio on 610 WIP.

• The Flyers have undergone a rather significant roster change this summer. A total of nine players (plus two scratches) from last year’s final playoff game have departed through trades or free agency, and have been replaced by no fewer than seven players through the same avenues. Among the key newcomers are G , RW Jaromir Jagr, , Max Talbot and Jakub Voracek, C , and D Andreas Lilja.

was named the 18th in team history on the eve of training camp on September 16, with Kimmo Timonen and Danny Briere serving as alternate captains. Pronger, who has won a Stanley Cup and two Olympic medals, was previously the captain of the St. Louis Blues and . Timonen and Briere also have prior captain experience with Nashville and Buffalo, respectively.

Tuesday, September 20 – Flyers 4, Maple Leafs 0 at Air Canada Centre: Four different players scored and recorded a 27-save as the Flyers beat Toronto in the preseason opener. Zac Rinaldo, Wayne Simmonds and Mike Testwuide all contributed to a three- second period, while picked up the second goal of his camp after also scoring in Thursday’s Rookie Game scrimmage against Washington. The shutout was the first for the Flyers in 108 total games spanning the preseason, regular season and playoffs, going back to the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals vs. .

SEPT. 20 NOTES: • The Flyers used just two skaters in the game – and Matt Carle – who dressed for the final playoff game of the 2010-11 season. • The Flyers scored their three second-period goals on just six shots. • Blake Kessel recorded 20:46 of ice time in the game. He was playing against his brother Phil, while the Flyers’ Brayden Schenn squared off against his brother Luke.
